Crossover settings and cancelation question....

You should cross the mids over at the tweeter crossover frequency.

Mids have an increasing raggedness in their response the higher in frequency they have to play (bigger cones cant be tweeters), so you would get better response lowering the mid frequency.

well the midranges i have will play up to 5khz all day and sound great (they're currently at 400hz to 4khz 18db slopes). the tweeters i have now are also crossed at 4khz, but i might be getting some tweets that will play a bit lower. (2.5khz ish without issue). will they conflict with the midranges?

the midranges are my DLS IR3's.....they kick ***. i have the chance to get some ID nx30's....but like you mentioned there's no need to have the tweeter go lower if the IR3 is already doing a great job at those freqs.
