Crossover Impedance question

Lets say i have a set of 4ohm tweeters and woofers, since only one set of speaker wire goes into the cross over and two come out (1 for tweeter 1 for woofer) does it maintain the 4ohm impedance on the amp or is the amp now putting out power at 2ohm?

All the xover does is filter the highs/lows.
Still 4ohm.
Kind of right...

It is still four ohms but what the crossover does is impedance match to maintain it at four ohms. If you ran a 4 ohm tweet with a 4 ohm mid in parallel you would have 2 ohms (obv) and the crossover filters and matches!

if you meter your tweeter, it won't have resistance FYI
Not true...unless you get a standalone tweeter.

How does the crossover network filter out the highs without some sort of resistance...it cant.

When you have an aftermarket tweeter meant to integrate into any system then yes it wont have resistance (or REALLY High!) but not true for component setups (Some may work like you say though)

Thats what I meant, on the standalone tweeters with the capacitors, but if you meter the resitance on the coil of the tweeter it won't read exactly the same as the mid does.

Not sure if its because of the tweeters diaphram being so small that it moves with wind or movement but i've never seen one in a componet set meter the same as the woofer/midrange
