ok so im going to be using the coustic XM6 as my active crossover. i have a jl 12w3 and not completely sure what to low pass it as? i called some car shop they told me 320hz. i thought it was kinda high. esp since the XM6 only goes to 200hz. what do you guys recommend as a low pass filteR?

also, on the amp should i set the the crossover to "all pass"? or what should i do. if im already telling the coustic xm6 to do all the crossover. what should the amp be set to? lp, ap, hp?

Tell the mx6 to do all the work and just set the amps xovers to pass.

Also, I don't know what kind of box you have, maybe bandpass or something, but 320 is amazingly high. MOST people set them around 80-100. I have mine set at 55-60. 320 is midbass range and even if you highpass your midbass and componants to around 60-80 you might get cancelation at worse, crappy sound at best.

Again, I don't know what your setup is but assuming a comp/sub and comp/midbass/sub you should do something like:

COMP/SUB

Sub: lowpass 80-100

Comp: Highpass 80-100

COMP/MIDBASS/SUB

Sub: lowpass 60-100

Midbass: bandpass (60-100)-wherever comps/horns or whatever take over, probably 800-1khz

Comps: highpass 800-1khz

Also, you will want to adjust everything until it sounds right. Also, keep in mind that doublebass technically classifies as midbass.

**** you serious...ok well this is what i have so you guys have an idea.

tweet/midbass/sub

sub: lowpass: 80hz

midbass: high pass: 80hz, low pass: 3500hz

tweet: high pass: 3000hz

does that sound right? or am i off alot?

It sounds like you just have componant speakers, a tweet and 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 almost-full range speaker. The set probably should have come with a crossover box themselves. What you'll want to do then is use the crossover box that came with the componant speakers. Then on the xm6, highpass the componants at 80 and lowpass the sub at 80. That will give you a good starting point to tweak and adjust.

If you don't have a crossover for the componants then:

sub: lowpass 80

mid: highpass 80 and lowpass speaker models max high frequency

tweet: highpass to match mid

What speakers and amps, do you have?

eclipse cd5425 2005 model

dynaudio 160gt 6.5inch midbass

DLS UR1 tweeter. iridium model

jl12w3v2

fosgate p300x2 for the sub

speaker amp still undetermined

coustic xm6

Well, midbass good upto 3.5khz and tweet is good down to 1khz so I say, cross both at 3khz and adjust from there. Also, without a componant crossover you will need a four channel amp, in case you didn't have that figured out.
