its been 20 years since i was into good car audio equipment, and my system needs a boost bass wise. so much has changed as have companies.

ive found this amp JBL BP1200.1 amp and just waiting to make payment, i got it for $175 off a differant forum.

sub is picked out,but id like recomendations if i can find better under $300?

Alpine SWX-1243D 12"

ill be running that one sub with 1200w rms,and im pretty sure i want it in a sealed box.either ordered or i build it.

im not so sure on reading what specs alpine is calling for,but here is the pdf with all the info: http://support.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_SWX-1243D.PDF

scroll down a bit and its in english.

i cant tell if it should be 1cf or 3 cf?

i like this combo as it should hit hard but not be boomy and have good SQ,i tried to match the amp and sub perfectly.but ive read the sub will handle more than 1000rms

the amp is 600 watts rms at 4 ohm, 1200 watts at 2 ohm, and is not recommended to be used at 1 ohm,but wont do it as 2ohm is fine for me.

as i said the amp is a done deal, subs are just picked out but can switch to something better as long as its under $300.

i can build my own box,but id rather not.

this looks fitting and the price is right: http://cgi.ebay.com/12%22-ALPINE-TYPE-X-Sealed-Subwoofer-Box-Sub-Enclosure_W0QQitemZ300308774971QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090419?IMSfp=TL090419153009r15132

thoughts?suggestions?

I'll sell ya an fi Q w/bp in a well built 2.5 cube box tuned at 32. It sounds amazing and if we met halfway it would only about an hour and a half drive each. Sub is not even fully broken in yet,I just got the audio bug and need to be a little louder so i'm stepping away from sq and doing more of a sql setup..

not that i was asking people to sell me stuff, but rather wanting recomendations.

but thats how i found the amp also.

so its a 12"? what ohms? and is that in a bandpass box? i much prefer sealed tho.

you can pm me with a price, and yeh i could meer half way if we do decide something.

the alpine x sounds like a solid choice to me. but dont buy a box. if worst comes to worst buy one off here made to your specs. ask bonesninja or vitveet (spelling?) they make great boxes for a good price.

well im set on amps, sub and enclosures now.

JBL BP1200.1 with Output 4ohms-600W x 1 Output 2ohms-1200W x 1 and ive read will do 1ohm-1490W.but ill be sticking too 2ohm

and this sub: fi Q w/bp dual 1ohm 1000w-1500w rms. in a well built 2.5 cube box tuned at 32 1000w-1500w rms. it was built from a guy here.

what farad cap you guys recomend?

granted thats the best option, but a bit more than i was expecting to spend.im doing this for all sound Q,so i dont care about boom just a tight hit.

anything more affordable?

also does tha run paralell to my stock battery?

See how the electrical holds up doing the big 3 upgrade on it.

If needed, upgrade with a second battery afterwards. Skip on the cap, it won't be needed and isn't worth spending the extra money on.

im gonna install it all and see how the cars electrical system holds up.

will a second battery be as good as that kenitik 1400?

im thinking not even if i put a good ultima back there,am i wrong?

well it looks like i may have my motorcycle sold tommorow and if thats the case the kenitik 1400 cost wont be an issue.

could i go smaller?

Last year I heard a 12" Alpine SPX sub sealed and direct cabin fired into a 2008 Civic Si off of a Memphis 16-MCD1500. Truthfully, I was impressed with that single 12 in a sealed enclosure and the SQ of the whole system overall was pretty good.

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they ran a 4 gauge wire from the front battery to the rear battery and went 1/0 from the rear battery to the distribution block for the amps. That shop was having a hard time locating a HO alternator so they opted to try it with a second battery first. IIRC, it was a huge Interstate battery that they stuck in the trunk.

ok ive looked into that option and like it better than caps.

i wont be bumping this system,im going for tight hits and solidly low bass.

ill be lucky if i ever hit 1000w,more like 800max the way i like my music.

i dont Listen to rap,but on a slight occasion.not the bass heavy stuff anyhow.

i like hard rock like Metalica and 70's rock.

but i do want something there to not kill my cars innerds.

mabey a smaller battery or an ultima?

how do these work? is it paralell to my main battery?

and also what do i need to install this setup of an extra battery?

The two things you'll want to do to hold up the system fine, for that amount of power, are to search for what the big 3 is, do it, and get a better battery up front.

The big 3 consists of upgrading wires between the alternator, battery, and chassis.

If you want to really be sure to keep everything safe, you can get something along the lines of a good kinetik battery, and you'll run it in parallel with the front battery with 1/0 gauge wire. Securely mounted in the trunk. An optima yellow top or something is also decent, a cheaper alternative, but I'd recommend the kinetik over it.

Or, if you get the biggest good battery you can find that will fit up front, and only replace it, that will save you the wiring and trunk space for a second battery, and it shouldn't have any problems with that amount of power.

that helps alot.

i think id rather have the double battery setup as the engine battery is rather new.

do i need battery isolaters? or can i just use powerblocks for this?
