Crimping together a wiring harness and wiring harness adapter questions?

Are you sure you got the right harness? Im almost positive the Dodge vehicles need a CanBus harness.
EDIT- Found your issue.

There is only 1 black and 1 yellow. There is a black wire that is supposed to go back into the harness and a yellow that does the same thing. Looks like you need to contact the place of purchase and get a new one.

Oh wow, good find. The harness had all of the yellow/black wires just sticking out, none of them going back into the harness. How would i go about putting them back in?

If your good at tinkering you may be able to pull the metal pins out with some need nose pliers, solder the wire and reinsert them, but the issue is knowing which pin is the right pin for the other end of the wire and actually getting the pin back into the plastic. Those pins are very fragile. Your better off returning it. You can get one cheap at Walmart if you really need it ASAP.

Hmm okay thanks. It seems like these type of misfortunes always happen to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif I'll probably just return it. Thanks for the help.

This. I think your better off getting a new one. Don't bother trying to repair that. You might see is you can get a refund for that harness you have and since it was an inconvenience they can pay for the shipping on it. Just go get one locally.

This harness came free with my stereo purchase so there's no use in trying to get reimbursed for it, looks like i'll just have to go get a new one. Thanks.

Seriously though, you should solder those connections.
x2

I didnt know how to solder and used butt connectors in my last car. With my new car I wanted to do things right. You can pick up a solder iron, heat shrink, de-solder braid, and everything for $22 at Radioshack and do it right. Its a piece of cake and takes 5 minutes to learn watching a youtube video.

Soldering seems a bit too complicated to me, although i do see how it would be best for my connection. I can barely crimp correctly, much less learn to solder. xD

Its a piece of cake man. I learned in 5 minutes and it was my first time.
I'll check it out. But also, this is my first vehicle and i will be getting a new one in about 2 years, and i'll be sure to solder in my new vehicle. But crimping should last me untill then, right? Seeing as though i've already purchased everything i needed to crimp. Seems like a waste of money to switch my methods now.

Also here's another thing, since i'm going to have to get a new adapter, i'm going to have to cut the crimps off and restrip the wires. But in the stereo manual, i read something about how it isnt recommended to shorten the wires at all. Will i be okay cutting the crimps off and doing it over with the right adapter?

Nope! Not a waste. It was a waste to get the crimping stuff. Trust me. Soldering is easy. It doesn't have to be pretty. Just get the iron hot, put some tin on it, tin the wires, hold them together and put some more tin on it. Make sure to use heat shrink, not electrical tape. 2 years is a long time, you will want to solder it. Such a better connection. Even sound quality will be better than it will by crimping. You can practice soldering on a few pieces of wire before, just to get the hang of it.

Your going to have to. You might be able to un crimp but probably not.

Its fine. If you have to cut them cut as close to the connector as you can. Also try to crimp them the opposite way that you did to begin with. You may be able to get the wire out without cutting.
