couple questions ! :D

i am highly considering buying 2 of these Kicker 12" Solo-Baric L5 Series (08S12L54) for my Mercedes c240 2002 model.

i already have a pioneer avh-p3200BT deck installed with stock speakers and sub / amplifier. i am thinking about grabbing 2 of these L5 solo barics, as well as a 1000watt alpine amplifier to put in my car. the entire price for everything i want is going to be 680$. i got a really good deal but i still haven't bought them yet, i came to this website as i know you guys are the experts and i would appreciate advice on whether or not this would be a good purchase. in my eyes it is since i have heard really good things about the square kicker subs and a 1000w alpine amplifier to boot. also i think it is a steal because they are selling me all this for only 600 bucks when the price for one is 450.

now the thing is with these subs is that they both come in their own box, meaning that they aren't both sealed together they are separate. would this cause any sort of problems? i am also wondering since i have a pioneer deck and i would be buying a alpine amp with kicker subs, would this be to much of a mix and match as for the brand names? i really want to get this because i have had my deck for over a year with no subs and i wanna get boomin soon!

In your car do you have the gas tank between the trunk and cabin?

Mixing brands is not a problem.

Most on this board do not like Kicker speakers and all of us do not like prefab boxes.

Okay, first of all welcome to the site.

Now before you go about this take your time to do the research (which I see you are). The subs will always be there.

As for your decisions I doubt anyone here would tell you to buy those subs as they are a pile, and way to expensive for what your actually getting.

If you want your system to slang and bang look into DC,Audioque,sundown,and many others people recommend on this site.

For the subs I just listed you can get 2 12's and an EXCELLENT 1000+ watt amp for around $500. sundown and audioque both make an amp that is great IMO (~$250). Now I don't know if you can build your own box, people on this site are more then willing to help you on that, myself included. If not it will run you ~100 bucks.

If you decide to go for a sub-par amp and the subs I listed above your looking at around a $400 price range for 2 12's and an amp.

For what I just listed it is estimated that it will cost you around your $600-$500 price range and the quality will be far superior then what you have set up, IMO.

IF THOSE SUBS THAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT BUYING COME IN A PREFAB BOX, WALK AWAY!

Those prefab's **** and you will be spending an extra 100 bucks getting a new one.

If you get anything out of this post, it should be that you are going to be paying twice what the kicker and amp you have listed is actually worth, compared to other equipment out there.
