Need more bass

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the whole 'car audio' thing, and I know pretty much nothing about car audio, I know a tad about home / computer audio, but not a whole lot...

Here's the deal, my truck ('03 GMC Sierra 1500HD) when I bought it came with an Alpine F-250 amp, and an Alpine IVA-W205 head unit, and some Alpine speakers. Now there's no bass worth mentioning, at all...

I'm wondering, what would you guys suggest to do to get some decent bass out of the thing, not enough to shake the whole truck apart, but enough to let you know that you have a quality sub, and speakers to match, since the sub would probably drown out the higher frequencies with what I have right now. I've tried to mess with some of the settings on the amp, and I've squeezed a tad out of what I have now, but it isn't all that impressive.

Basically, I don't know what to expect for a price, so I'm just going to say preferably less than $1000 all in, though I'd prefer less... The amp can go, but only if needed, as can the speakers if it'd be needed to maintain hearing of the higher frequencies. I want to keep the head unit.

If you have any questions feel free to ask! (but I might not know the answers lol)

I'm in Canada so keep that in mind if shipping is needed..

Well you would probably be fine door speaker wise at least up to 1000watts, possibly more, hard to say though without being there lol; My factory speakers do fine for me off my head unit with my sub at 1500w. You got a pretty good budget and could get pretty loud.

With that being said, how limited to you are space? Will you be building an enclosure yourself? Will you be installing it yourself?

Ion: I'm not terribly limited to space, just need the back bench available for the dog to be a dog on, and I'm probably not going to be building the enclosure, I might install myself, depending if I can get time. As I stated, the $1000 is only if I need it, I'd rather less heh. I'd prefer not door speakers, just because it's a GM of that age, and they tend to rattle... lol

Bettr: Under the seat is optimal.

But would my amp be able to power 2 subs? looking at the power output specs of it, it seems as if it lacks some cahoonas, but then again car audio is perhaps, different...

The mono amp would be for just the Sub(s) or something different? And which amp would you suggest?
Yes a mono will just for subs...

How much space are you willing to give up? This will determine what you can use for subs then you look for the amp after this. The enclosure is the most important item to consider when adding subs.
If under the seat he will only have around .7 per sealed...

I would say just add an 8in Bazooka in there.Passive add an amp,or even a pair of dvc 8 or tens.I have a Bazooka 8200 in my work truck x0cab under the back seat is all I need,Its plenty loud with a built-in amp, and sounds just fine. Not Ground shaking by any means, but at one time I had a pair of Passive dvc 10s in there and with an old school powerhouse, it shook the ground.Easy to put in, light weight,to remove and put back in if needed, and the powered one come with all the power wiring and rcas to add to the existing HU.Just an idea, and adding my 0.02cents out there:D
