Converting my sub and amp to home audio?

Alright, after deciding to just run my 1 Death penalty, i've got another just sitting here.

I've had a component amp just sitting here that puts out like 600 watts.

The sub is D2 VC's. So could I make it work for home audio @ 4 ohms?

I know there are other threads relating to this, and i DID search, just coudn't get a straight answer.

buy a a 1000w PSU from like newegg hook up an amp to the PSU and wire the amp to your subs and get hook it up with a reciever in ur house.

NO

do you have a receiver or anything right now? I would find a receiver that has a sub out and run a plate amp at 4 ohms. I got my Yamaha with 5.1 surround for like $80used. Nothin fancy. If you are really on the cheap look for one of those cheap *** stereo systems. I had a Aiwa that had a sub out. Im sure you could find one for like $20 used.

This just isn't cost effective IMO.

Not to mention it's ghetto.

For instance... you'd need a PSU with a combined 12volt rail of at least 85 amperes.

Probably run you somewhere in the ballpark of $300-400 dollars.

Plus an amp (assuming he has one, though). But even still, you'd have to splice into every 12volt line, run it to your amp, somehow make the 12volt negative rail bigger, and then, I suppose, you're set.

But, like I said... it's ghetto.

Just buy a nice plate amp off partsexpress.com, it'll be cheaper.

buy a used ht amplified sub and take the amp out and cut the sub enclosure for the dp and put the ht sub amp in that. most ht amplified subs run at 4 ohms.

Or you can just buy another sub and run them in series for teh 2-ohmage and extra boom.

thats actually what I did, bought a KLH powered sub off ebay with a blown sub and just took the amp out. Was like $40. 175w amp

you could buy my very slightly used 500 watt O-audio bash plate amp for $200, and then build yourself a nice sealed box.

plate amp will be your cheapest option.......besides the ghetto *** battery charger crap
