So i have 6.5 Polk components up front and 6.5" coax speakers in the rear running off a ppi900.4 I am using the crossovers the components came with up front.

I am kinda confused on bandpass and hpf settings and which i should be using. I had all channels on hpf setting at 120hz and it seems like the rears speakers are getting too much bass. I am on the stock headunit using an lc6i for now.

Can anyone enlighten me on these settings? I know if you set the HPF to 120 it wont play anything lower than that but what if i switch it to bandpass? I also know theres an X1 and X10 button. Thanks!

also i know im running passive because i am using the crossover that came with the components. Say i wired the speakers directly to the amp (i know it lowers ohms) then set amp to bandpass does that mean now im running active?

You only need bandpass when going 2 way active...if the rears seem like they have too much bass...then turn up the high pass or turn down the gain.

Active is when you use the front 2 channels for the tweeters, rear 2 channels (bandpass) for your midrange.

ok so if i go pro audio i decided im gonna run tweeters on channel 1 and 2. Then im gonna run the 2 front 6.5 on chanel 3 and 2 rear on channel 4. If i decide to do that would all of it be set on bandpass? I guess i get confused on where to set it if i use bandpass for pro audio. I am also confused on the x10 button. Does that mean if my ppi goes up to 500hz and i push the x10 button it will be 5000hz?

the tweeters would be set HPF at 2-5khz depending on the tweeter(you'll need the x10). the rear would be set on bandpass with a hpf at 80-120hz and a LPF anywhere from 2-5khz. there is a BPF switch which uses both the HPF and LPF settings

the x10 button does exactly that, multiplies the range by 10.

you will lose left/right separation unless you wire the speakers correctly. make sure you dont go below 2ohms per channel and dont clip AT ALL these amps put out gobs of power that will blow your equipment

You're on the right track.

The x10 button, yes -- primary use is for tweeters.

Bandpass turns on the high AND low pass filter. You want to low pass your woofers and high pass your tweeters at about the same point. Probably in the 2-4k range -- this will probably depend on the capability of the tweeters. You should try to find the specs on the Polk crossover, that should tell you approximately where to start.

Well i guess the ppi has lpf hpf and full. Is full the same as bandpass? If i switch it to full that means i have to set both lpf and hpf on that channel?
