Confused on sub box

Okay so I am finally getting around to start my car audio system. and I want a soundqubed 10" sub for now, but I read that they can only be in a ported box, whereas for my music taste (mostly metal) I hear ported can't keep up with machine gun firing double bass drums.. but I have also heard people say that a ported can be every bit as fast and clear as a sealed if built properly. my question is, is there a way to build a box for the soundqubed sub to keep up with the fast drums??

Thought the same thing until I saw the light lol. Yes you can go ported man.

I used to play the drums. Some drummers tune their drums to resonate more, but I tuned mine to have a more solid thump for a tighter drum beat. It’s a matter of preference. Personally, I like the sound of a subwoofer in a sealed enclosure because it doesn’t resonate as much and gives a tighter punch.

Used to play? Still jam daily after 35 years. And I've always tuned without resonating, sounds like shyte. Likes me a solid thud. In the right ported (tuned to 35-40) double bass can attack just as aggressively......

I’m what you would call a rudimental drummer mostly because I played in band in High School… Single Stroke Rudiments, Drum Roll Rudiments, Paradiddle Rudiments, Flam-Based Rudiments, Paradiddle Rudiments… etc. I tuned my snare crisp and kick, mounted and floor drums to have a solid thump so I could keep it tight… Like I said, it’s a matter of preference and I’m happy for you if you like your toms to sound like a kettle drum. I sold my kit and mic’s to go to college and I earn 4X the money my friends’ do that are still sitting on the same bar stools they did when I was 18 still thinking they will make it one day.

Cool story bro. Session drummer man. Did the "make it big" as a kid too. Just steady playing these days. Kettle drum? Comedy. I tune by note....batt and res equally. I don't torque my toms.

How would I go about making the enclosure for it? Does anybody have plans for the bigger box?? Or should I try and find a different sub and go sealed
You are obviously confused about which direction to go. I would recommend that you do more research and learn more about the various subwoofers and how different boxes effect the way they sound. Only then can you make an informed decision. Don't rely on other people to decide for you. Everyone's ears hear and experience sound differently.
