Bad storm came through and knocked power out. Power came back on and i hit the power button on my desktop pc and nothing happens, no lights or fans.

I took the side of my pc case off and the green light on the motherboard is on. when i unplug power the green light goes off.

I replaced the old power supply thinking it was the culprit and still get the same symptoms.

Anyone know what to check next could the motherboard or cpu be shot? the motherboard is getting power from the power supply but when i hit the button to start the pc up i get nothing.

I have connected only the motherboard from the power supply and tried it and it doesnt do anything no beeps no fans etc.

Would the battery have stopped working after a storm? or is it most likely just needing a new motherboard?

when ur computer starts try to get into the bio's its like keep pushing del for bios...for me i dunno about you try it
He said it doesnt even boot up, so how is he supposed to get into the BIOS? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif I would say, if you have a spare mobo toss it in and try it out. If not, try just resetting the CMOS battery (taking it out and putting back in) If that doesnt help, try jumping the Power pins and see if maybe by some chance its your power button/cables going to the board to tell it to turn on. Check all loose connections, etc...but from what i read, I think your mobo is shot. I would say if your PSU got cooked, it took your mobo with it.

If all else fails, buy a $40 motherboard from Newegg, or better yet, I could sell you my old one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just fixed mine an hour or so ago, i removed the fan/heatsink cleaned up a little, put it back on and it worked. sounds like a rrod type of situation to me
try taking the bios battery out and letting it sit for a few mins to reset the bios. if that doesnt work let me know
tried the fan and heatsink no good lol. ill try letting the battery sit out although i removed it and put it right back in and still got nothing.

i guess the mobos probly fried

try taking the bios battery out and letting it sit for a few mins to reset the bios. if that doesnt work let me know
if that doesn't work... Take out ur memory.. take off ur HSF and CPU.. and video card out.. unscrew your mobo from the case.. take your motherboard out.. and throw it on the ground real hard... then put ur motherboard back in and screw it down... then put ur memory and everything else back in.. this should fix your problem

Or he could just reset the bio's switch..aslong as you did'nt fck with any thing in the bio's resetting the bio's won't do any thing its a blown cpu i think
wouldnt matter if he did mess with anything int he bios removing the jumper and putting it back or by taking the battery out and letting it sit resets it so anything he messed up is gone
