Anyone File their Federal Taxes online? ive done it like 2 years ago... think it was at Taxact... i heard now they are doing Federal for free.. if you don't have to file State... i just don't wanna mess up anything.. im tired of H&R Block charing me 100 bucks...

I use turbotax online for federal, and the Wisconsin IRS site has their own free e-file serivce. Granted, my taxes are pretty simple(no special deductions or any wierd stuff), so I don't have to worry about messing anything up.

As of last year and year before so far as I knew filing for free was reserved for the 1040EZ, for people with not much income or not very 'complicated' income. If you make a decent wage or have income from a few places you'll be payin but even then it's worth it. It shouldn't take but an hour or two if you have access to everything you need while you do it, cheaper than H and R or anybody else will charge you. I used tax act, am now using Turbotax.

I'll probly never pay an accountant or use H and R or anything. It's cheaper and all you do is answer questions online for an hour or two then set up the electronic transaction between your bank account and uncle sam. Once I've done everything else state taxes are an extra 5-10 minutes cause it uses most of the same info.

I use http://www.TaxAct.com I got my W2 last week and filed them already, they'll being processing on Tuesday Jan. 20 err Black Tuesday.
I was gonna do Taxact.. actually.. my Girlfriend and my parents were gonna file the same way as i do.. but with just Federal is there anything you gotta print and send in or anything.. i just wanna know because i wanna make sure i get a printer.. (currently don't have one)

I believe with Taxact you can file electronically then print the forms and mail them, or else do the whole thing online. I think when I last used it, if I had remembered my password and some other info from previous years returns it would let me file completely online. If I hadn't they were gonna make me print and mail a form.

I think it depends on your return. Last year I had to print out a paper, sign it, and send it in. This year I didn't.
