Computer people I need your help!!! CRC ERROR Problems!!!

So i just reinstalled windows xp sp1 onto this computer now this error comes on everytime i try and download an antivirus or spyware program. So can anyone help me out i tried google but could find much on cyclic redundancy check errors, when i say that i mean programs that fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

Try a low level format, that will wipe out everything, but usually it's gone.

You can try it. You will have to totally reload your OS. If the CRC errors come back, get rid of it.

Cyclic Redundancy Check error, can be a HDD problem, can also be a badly formatted drive.

Yep time for a new hard drive. Reformatted the drive once and reloaded everything today. Ill get one tomorrow maybe.

drives are cheap these days and if you're getting errors right after a fresh install something isnt cool so better to be safe than mess with it

The first time i did it i did the quick one second time i did the full reformat.

can always try a scandisk...but the best that will come from it is usually it will tell you to buy a new HD =P
