I've lost count how many towers I've built over the years. Has to be well over 150 at this point. I still have everything here sitting NIB for a Dual PIII Tower Build that I bought 4 years ago in order to do a VooDoo based gaming computer. Along with a NIB motherboard, NIP memory...everything. Just haven't had the time or the energy to do it.

Been building since 2004. Congrats on the setup.

The initial cost is high but some components like powersupply, cpu cooler, fans, SSDs, ram can last you over a decade so when you factor that in the total price isn't as bad as you'd think

Yep I have and older Gigabyte x99 ud5
mobo 5th gen i7 cpu with 16 gb of Corsair memory Antec 650watt PwS,8 tb of storage could`nt be happier ,system is fast as i need it to be well worth the money a couple of years ago only thing i will be upgrading is storage in the future,got tons of music stored.

It's so weird.

I've built around 10-12 computers over the years. Mostly as a hobby, and gave a few to family and friends. I just ordered a new motherboard and CPU to upgrade one I built several years ago.

yeah i would've bought a 5800x if they weren't price gouging the F out of them.

Both AMD and Nvidia seemed to have "paper" launches. i'm sure covid doesn't help much but i really can't stand the price gouging on computer stuff. i've never really seen such ridiculous overpricing before.

i mean i even paid a little more for my motherboard. i had to get the motherboard. cpu's can be taken out. i don't want to ever have to take the board out.

ugh they took like a week just to ship my AIO. i need it before anything else bc i'm going to modify the case but looks like itll be the last part here

It was around $100 for the case several years ago. I had to assemble it, and buy all the peripherals.

Yep I have 2 of the M2 SSD's right now and the size is nothing. When I looked at the size of the SSD on the PS5 it is just 4 or 5 little chips built into the motherboard. I remember paying big bucks in the '80s and '90s for 20mb and 40mb hard drives,lol. That and memory/cpu's had to be soldered in back in the '80s

I still haven't decided on what SSD I want to go with. My mother board has an M.2 slot but it's SATA. I'm between getting an NVME SSD and using an m.2 to pcie adaptor and plugging it into my spare pcie slot below the graphics card or just going with the slower SATA SSD. I like simplicity and not sure if using a pcie adaptor will cause any issues.

the pcie 3 connection would be the best from what i've seen, if you can't do pcie 4
