Component system help for a newbie!!

If your amp is rated lower you'll never get the full potential of the speakers.
That's not true. Just like with subs; speakers mechanical power handling is install dependent (IB in doors? Xover point? etc). I'm only running 50w to my "80w RMS" speakers, and I can get the coil to leave the gap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

And if you crank up the volume you could clip the amp and kill your speakers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
Not with a properly set gain //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If i was going focal i would go with polykevlar 165Ks get them on ebay max 350. alot cheaper then retail. Might look into Image dynamics CSX64. they go for about 250 on Ebay. Im not sure about the perfects but i had kappas and my Image Dynamics kill them.

SO should I go with something a little under like 60 watts RMS or a little over like 100 watts RMS for the 75 watt rms Focal's???

You guys have been great and I thank you for it big time!!!!

It doesnt hurt to have more power then the speakers are rated just keep the gain a little low. but there are alot of good amps out there at 50w that sound better then 100w amps. remember that just because its 100w versus 50 rule of thumb is you have to double power to get 3db more sound. someone correct me if im wrong

A DMM is a digital multi-meter.. RadioShaft has 'em...

I say get the something with 100, the Focals will have no problem handling that..
