Complete System Install in 2008 Honda Pilot

Just returned from my local installer who set up a package for my 2008 Honda Pilot w/out factory nav. Here is what we came up with:

Sub - Pioneer TS-SWX310

Mono Sub Amp - Pioneer Premier GM-D7400M

Speakers x4 - Hertz 6.5" HCX165.3, w. complete deadening of front two doors and basic deadening of rear two doors

HU - Alpine ida-x100 w. steering wheel controls and xm adapter

I also added the Alpine outboard HU amp to add more power to the speakers. After all wiring, harnesses, and labor, the total came to approx $2500. Thoughts?

Thanks for the tip, but doing the install myself is out of the question. I'm happy to pay for it and have it done right without wasting my time learning every little thing about car audio. Plus, this installer does outstanding work and I may ultimately end up changing my mind about the sub and have them build a custom enclosure for a sub in the stock location in the pilot. There's hardly a chance I'd ever be able to do that myself.

I've never upgraded a stock audio system -- I simply don't have the time or energy to learn how to do it myself. These guys have been doing this for over 30 years. I'm paying for their experience.

i payed 1500 for all the stuf you see in my signature and i bet i would pown your setup but the audio shop you went is having a payday should have done some basic research before you let some storefront salespunk make up your mind for you, but you'll learn, the hard way i guess...

no one wanted to or wanted you to compare setup's with him.

he wants to know what you think about his

i think your getting ***** why not buy that stuff online and than have a custom made box done from here from many of the great box builders here. Than go and get ***** by the shop for putting in the other stuff. I bet they charge like $200 to deaden the doors. The only way that equipment comes out to that is if you pay the suggested retail price and that doesn't happen online.

Honestly...

You are overpaying for your equipment, and for your install.

However,

If you want it installed right, and would like the service if anything ever happens to your equipment or installation...im sure that company will cover you.

I would not go with pioneer subs/amps. Look into getting an alpine type R instead with one of their PDX amps, they are super small and very nice looking. ALso if installed correctly...will sound great.

thats a very expensive price in my opinion

the gear can be had online for much much cheaper, and installs are going to be expensive either way.

you may want to see what it'll cost you if you ordered the gear yourself and went to have them install it. Searching on the internet for that gear will save you money as it is, but buying gear elsewhere may increase the cost of your install (because they want to milk you for all your worth)

either way, ide reccomend doing it yourself. But since that seems out of the question with your mindset, theres no real reason to ask us about it because that audio shop is taking your money either way!

Where do yall find this stuff online for cheaper prices? I looked up everything on crutchfield and it was what they quoted me at the shop.

If I can find the equipment cheaper online I'm sure they would price match at the shop.
