comment on my setup

Your system could sound perfectly clean there is no real way to tell unless we all heard it. It is just when you mix different size subs or the same size different brand there is a good chance that there will be cancellation or in other words the "timing" of all of the subs could be off. The more subs you have whether or not they are exactly the same sub the more of a chance of cancellation and or blurring of the sounds. Chances are the larger sub might be ahead of or behind the others and on most songs you would probably never know. Instead of taking the chance of cancellation you might as well just add anonther ten to the mix and get rid of the 13.5 that way you do not run the risk. The specs on different size subs are different even if they are the same model which means that the subs are "reacting" different to the same signal. Tens can play just as low as 15's so I would not worry about adding a larger sub.
FINNALY someone with brains! thank you sir!

there is no cancellation! fer cryin out loud the 13 is set to 35 hertz and the 10's are set to 60...
I think that he means that the 13.5 only plays freq below 35 hz and the 10's play between 35hz and 60hz. He is trying to use subs like you would a two way comp set, the mids play certain freq and the tweets play the others but in this case the 10's are midbass and the 13.5 is sub bass. With this setup you are better off crossing over all the subs at 60hz.

Are the 10's bandpassed, or do you just have the crossover set at 60?
the crossover is set to 60... the 13 is sealed inside the bow it shares no internal airspace with the 10's and i wouln't have anything but a sealed box... person prefference... i've allways liked the way sealed sounds over ported, bandpass or any other

sry missunderstood the question lol (its just the Xover)

So the 13' plays 35 and below, and the 10's are playing 60 and below?

Wow.....quit while you are....um.....quit now while you can i guess. Can't really say you were ahead of anything.

Which means having the 13 is useless in itself because the 10's are playing the same frequency as the 13. The 13 is a complete waste because it won't play lower then the 10's, that is purely your own misconception.

no on a jl amp the frequency is the peak of a curve the only place the subs intersect and play the same frequencies audibly is around 45 to 55 hrtz

looks weird, if it sounds good to you then i think thats wuts important... but saying bigger woofer play better lower frequencies thats wrong...

and i think the 13.5 is a waste as well...

dude, u should put some 18" on that car, why waste your time on some 10" and 13.5"?complicate everything... when u got lot of space..

meh, to each their own i guess.
