Cleanest Amplifier

ok.... amplifiers do affect sound quality. and to say that if it does anything besides amplify the signal that it is not an amp is incorrect, because no amp only increases the signal, there will always be some minute amount of distorion.

if you argue with that you are wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How did we let this slip??

what about the difference between AB amps and Class D amps? Where the signal is converted from analong to digital long the chain doesnt matter?
It might if that's what how a class D worked. There is NOTHING -- NOTHING -- "digital" about a class D amp. I don't think anyone knows for sure why people started calling class D's digital. But the popular story is that since the power supply in a constant switching mode - on/off/on/off - someone somewhere along the line said -- Oh, like a computer - 1/0/1/0/1. And since a lot of consumers will jump on anything with the word "digital" in the description - it stuck.

Class D's do nothing digitally.

And what about DB per octive crossovers? Like the new kicker SX amps have 36db per octive crossovers, and that wouldnt sound cleaner than a pyramid amp trying to cut off unwanted frequencies at 12db per octive?
Yes crossover slopes may allow you to tell the difference between 2 amps, but it would only be your opinion if you said 24db/oct x/o's sound BETTER than 12db/octave. Because the next guy that comes along might prefer 6.

No one can say a crossover is a crossover, but it CAN be said that power is power.

Heh heh. Well, I guess at least you're going in the smart direction by making statements that are more and more vague...
I bet the next thing you say is gonna be "Some stuff is better than other stuff. And you can't argue because you know it's true!" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hmm. so zane you are saying that there wouldnt be any audible difference in using this Legacy amp for my mids and highs than using something like JL, hifonics, or some other expensive brand? im not trying to prove any point, im really just asking.

Alright, fair enough...this is me, backing off....

BTW, I hope you recognize that this is all in good fun.

I said the same exact thing when I first got my Eurosports..."A US Acoustics amp should be fine" they all said, but I had to go with the shiny Nakamichi amp..."Why the hell would I be cheap with my amp when I have some nice speakers?"

Anyhow, the Eurosports got partially robbed and replaced, getting powered by several different amps (To include another Nak, JL, Autotek, Planet Audio) until I finally took them out of the S completely in favor of the system you see in my sig now and told my little sister she could have them.

Through a cousin, she arrived at the possession of a free 350x2 Boss amp (Actually much closer to 175x2 as Steve Mantz tells me)...Boss?! Anyway, lo and behold, I powered them up and they sounded great. Better than great, as good as I'd ever heard them...and from a free amp no less...

Anyhow, the moral of the story is something or other...who cares really...take from the story what you want. I'm gonna go eat.

I have provided a small ammount of factual information that clearly is in disagreement with your statements.

If you are not willing to read and learn, then I can do nothing further for you.

The facts I have posted are right all in this thread. So far, I have seen nothing but un-educated opinion less facts on your behalf.

Yet I am the one who is wrong on this whole issue?

For the second time now......

Prove it.

No there wouldn't be. Simply because there is nothing within an amplifier that can process sound.

take it easy,

I read the first about dozen replies and noticed that this thread took a sharp turn from what is the cleanest amplifier to who knows more about what-not. First off Zane is god //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif So I will go with what he has to say. But as far as the question goes a great sound quality amp. I would go with Brax. Why? *shrug* german ladies turn me on? Maybe. There really expensive and that must make them awesome? Not likely. I love pure sound and I can't seem to fit a quality home amp in my car? Good chance. I have heard these amps first hand and if I had the cash would buy one in a second. I love them. Just a great overall sound to them. If you can get ahold of one. Do it.
