choosing an amp for subs

im purchasing 2 forsgate p2 15" subs with the following spec.

15"

8 ohm voice coil

250 RMS / 500 Peak power handling

60 oz double stacked motor assembly

2" anodized aluminum voice coil

8 AWG speaker terminals

i am wondering what will i need my amp to have in order to receive quality power to power the 2 subwoofers

with 2 8ohm subs, you can wire to 4ohm and then 500 watt rms reqiured....so an amp that is 500x1@4ohm

pay attention to the 4ohm rating only...this is 200 watts less than you need

so an amp with 4ohm 500watts will be enough to power TWO 250 RMS / 500 Peak 8ohm subwoofers?

if the speakers are 250 watt rms, then 2x250=500 rms...get an amp that does 500rms

im sorry man i appreciate your help but i just cant seem to understand this, let me take another run at it!

when searching for amps i want to look for amps with 500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms... and if i find one with these secf. ill be okay?

exactly...when trying to power speakers/subs/whatever, always look at the rms or continuous rating...DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO MAX/PEAK ratings.

yes that is how you get the 4 ohm load you need.

haha!! im sorry but i will not cheer the lions until fall of this year... i paid 550 installed for 2 12" p2s with kenwood amp, but im selling that system and looking at 2 15" p2s
