choose my new sub

decide to sell the kicker and move on. so i want to get suggestions from CA.com

price range: $160 new (doesnt have to be set at 160, can be a little higher if the bucks are well worth it)

size: 12"/13"

expectations: great overall sound quality, spl, loud, and hit hard when it wants to. has to be able to take 1-ohm since my amp is 1-ohm stable.

music: i mainly listen to hip-hop, rap, techno, trance

enclosure: which enclosure would you recommend to go with and whatnot

amp: this sub will be powered with a hifonics brutus bx500d (500 watts rms @ 1ohm stable)

and lastly, where can i purchase this subwoofer?

This sub would work well for you. As far as enclosures I would go with a slot ported box tuned to 34 hz.

These are great subs for under $125 that take 500 watts.

The Atlas is a good sub with excellent SQ 15 for 165...

Also.. take a look into Kicker CompVRS or alpine type-r

Whatever route you choose, go with a ported enclosure. For hip-hop/trance music, a box tuned to around 33-34Hz will give you plenty of output in a relatively small space. Tuning lower will drop your output somewhat, and increase box size, but improve overall SQ.

I also listen to trance and i have found out that sealed enclosures work best with trance. Its alot punchier. I like to relate it to hard rock or heavy metal. The beat that is if you know what I mean
