Hi all,

im hoping someone here can help me.

i have a bose system with no on-star that im trying to get the chimes working without connecting the gmos-04 to the hu. i have changed all in the system, speakers, hu, amps.

i want to connect a speaker under the dash for the chimes only. connecting said speaker to the stock amp at the drivers door (where the chimes come from) and using the gmos-04 to get the chimes from the data buss II.

is this possible?

im thinking it is. from what i can understand the only connection to the stock amp is the trigger wire from the after market hu. this im guessing turns the amp on to get chimes. what i dont understand is how the chimes work when the hu is off. where is the power coming from? or does the amp even need to be on to get chimes.

i have tried connecting the stock speaker to the drivers door, with the gmos-04 connected but with out the trigger wire and get no chimes..

does anyone have any idea how to do this? im being told by a car audio shop its possible! i dont want to fry anything, and dont wish to pay another $100 or so for another adapter!

help

I was gonna say that but he wants em so thats his choice. I think it would be the stupidest Benjamin I ever spent.. I dont need to know the key is in my ignition, my doors open, or my headlights are on. I can see that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
headlights turn off automatically //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

thnx for the fast responses!

yes i want the chimes.

04 Chevy Avalanche 4x4 Z71 5.3l engine (hope this helps)

the gmos-04 does not have its own speaker. maybe the new ones do but mine is a year old and does not. the rca going to it only transfers the output from the aftermarket hu through to the stock amp. it can only output from the hu. the hu gets the RAP and batt, ground from the unit as well. these are the only connections except the trigger wire (assumed to turn stock amp on) that the hu and the gmos-04 have. the gmos-04 connects to the stock harness for the data II.

i did have this hooked up before i got amps and new speakers. it would work with the hu off. which means at least to me that the data II gets its power from somewhere else. eg: key left in ignition with the door open in off position. the hu is off but the chimes work to let you know the key is in the ignition.

so yes i am trying to cennect this back but without any tie in to the hu at all. i was thinking if it needs power i can connect the RAP line to the trigger line and it would at least have power as long as the key is on.

thnx

oh and the lights can be on if the vehicle has auto lights. the switch can be in the auto position or on position. in the on position it shuts off after 20min like the RAP (retained accessory power)does. computer controlled!
