Chaseinbass 96 GMC rebuild sort of ?

Got some pictures from Jonathan at CES and video of my two new hairpin 300 alts doing close to 310 amps max and close to 200 amps at idle on each and should really boost my voltage ! With the cheaper B&R 250 amp alts and three juice box group 31 s and 4 banks of ultra caps I am sitting around 14.4 driving and stays there until I get 3/4 volume in a bass heavy song and it will drop to mid to low 13s. I went with 300 amp alts because I will be changing to a limitless 60 ah lithium next and they recommended not going above 600 amps of alt. Should be here wed, can’t wait to get them installed and 0 gauge grounds ran to each and swap a 250 amp to stock location to run the truck.

Couldn’t get videos to attach:(

great job man. but recommending a limit on the primary power supply is retard..

hows your engine doing when you're putting a load on them at idle?
Don’t really seem to bother it too bad even when A/C is on but truthfully I don’t sit and play offen mostly driving and so voltage hardly comes off 15 volts most of the time full tilt Is still in the 14 s so I am happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

? From the stand point that the alts only make amperage demanded by battery ? Kinda thought that myself but honestly not even sure I really need a lithium other than too loose weight and gain real estate back lol. I know they charge and discharge so much faster just not sure if it will be worth 1800 bucks ? The lithium market is about to get a lot more competitive soon too so may wait a bit before I jump in and get one.

Only when you first start it after battery drop down to standing voltage, like overnight I get a small amount of belt slip, squeal just for couple seconds but I got a new belt and tensioner to put on tomorrow and hopefully that does it ?

I have the same load on first start but that's due to the caps inrush current, if you have a voltmeter directly hooked up to them you probably saw the phenomenon right after you added the bank. I doubt your batteries discharge much, I asked earlier because I raised my idle RPM a while ago by about 100 and it helped

Ya I honestly don’t think batteries are doing much at all, I think it’s running on all alts and caps and I will try raising idle too. Forgot about cap draw that’s exactly what it is ! Put them in that box and forgot about them ha ha

if the voltage is about 13.2 or so the alternator is supplying them current.

Got a new belt and tensioner on this morning and seems to have fixed the slipping and squealing on startup and decided to clean up my engine too because it was discussing lol looks good again at least for a 22 year old truck with 250 k on it anyways .

I've only had belt slip with an old belt, what you experienced is expected. replace the serp every few years and you wont have a problem. takes about half an hour to an hour if you have multiple alts and its only $30-$40. ac belt should also be changed when you hear slip and you're unsure

Even if there's no cracks?

**** looks dam good and clean!! And dam....had the same idea as me or I got it from you who knows, about running bigger wire over the fan shroud and drilling holes for zip tieing it in place, I did the same with mine.

I am getting ready to redo all the Under hood wiring and moving fuses off the fuse box and make a bracket and move over and lower below the antilock brake equipment and above the steering shaft and redo that mess all hooked up to poss+ and neg- main battery going to get a set of these battery terminals

I want it to look a little cleaner.
