Static charge build-up is enhanced when the air is dry. The air outside can be very dry when the weather is cold and dry. So, static problems and effects are often noticed in cold/dry air conditions. AKA Wintertime!!!

I don't know much about electricity but I'm pretty sure DC current is totally different than static electricity... ie it has nothing to do with your amp install...

I get shocked all the time from cars.

Winter or summer.

Its really annoying.

this happens to me alot, i use my keychain to act like a lightning rod when shutting the door.

The only time I've seen a shock resulting from aftermarket equipment was with some defective neon pedal covers. Neon systems use a stepped-up voltage and in this case you could definitely feel a high-voltage tingle when you touched the metal, not a static-type pop.

I have notice that i build up more static when wearing my nice leather shoes. Some tennis shoes too but not all of them.

I posted the same thing on here a few weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure it's just your seats, mine are cloth i'm guessing yours are too. It happened to me everytime i shut my door so i guess i finally started to remember it does it when closing the door.

Funny, same thing for me. In my case it's been since i installed my gear. Not before...don't really know why but i got use to it. Although my wife finds it really anoying.

So yea I just took out my HU tonight, so the amp and whatnot is disconnected...

I don't get shocked anymore. My guess is the ground..
