Here we go a drug argument again. Weed isn't harmful. Yeah right. Neither is anything else in moderation. Alcoholics could claim alcohol is good for you from the studies that have been done. But again these studies were on people that used in moderation. Weed in excess causes cancer. This is known. Alcohol in excess causes liver disease known fact.

Extremely good comment..I agree with all of that...moderation is definently the key...also on a side note the negative effects of marijuana can be greatly reduced when using a vaporizer..I recommend this to any who smoke..even on occasion..only thing that blows is I've only seen one portable vaporizer and its digital..so it costs 499..otherwise they make nice ones for 30-40..but ya gotta plug them in

Vaporizers are very nice products for smokers ... or steamers...whatever you want to call them

Yeah the only downside is the price and plug in thing but if your a "cronic" smoker a vaporizer may save a lot of your life.

The only reason weed gets a bad rap is because the government is trying to fight a losing battle against it. Do you honestly think the government site gauntlet posted would do anything but play up the negative side of things?

I know plenty of potheads who are strictly potheads nothing else and have been that way for a long while.

It's hard to say whether weed is the gateway to other drugs or not. Many people that I know started with weed for some reason and then moved to other heavier drugs. But again this is moving more into the area of abuse. Someone abusing weed is probably going to want to feel a greater high because they do weed so much it just doesn't feel the way it used to. I think the main thing that the government fears with all drugs is abuse. When abuse starts there are many negative affects, hurting your own body, hurting others, and the serious psychological affects that it will have on society if a large percentage abuses drugs. Another issue with drugs is that the FDA has to approves drugs for the market. So if weed and all heavy drugs were federalized (that way money wasn't lost to external countries) the government would be getting a lot of lawsuits regarding personal injury and injury to others coming there way putting the blame on the government for legalizing the drugs. Now if drugs were not federalized the government would not be sued but rather the drugs manufacturers would be much like the cigarette companies get sued. This is a tough topic for me. I fear legalizing drugs because I'm afraid it might expand the user base causing more injury to those in society not using the drugs. But my ideologies in all fields varies a whole lot from most modern day people, afterall I'm conservative, whereas I feel there is a large liberal movement right now. I have no problem with drugs harming those that use it, but I don't like to see it harm families or society. I just thought of a possible solution. Legalize weed and keep alcohol legal, but it someone is caught putting others in danger while on the weed or drunk give them the death penalty. Okay this is probably too radical for most of you so I will say 25 yrs.

Amsterdam has a less % of ppl who smoke weed than America.thats % not amount.so legalization doesnt affect it at all.the DARE people even stated in congress or wherever they meet to ask for more money,that DARE hadnt worked at all really.and that it didnt affect the number of ppl using.

Yeah DARE did say that......but how much do you really care about drugs in 5th grade...all you care about is the hot chick and recess..DARE should be put in 8th grade..that I think would have the most effect...personally though I think they should legalize all drugs..I mean the people who want them are going to get them...at least this way we could benefit from the taxes put on them. Also take away the billions of dollars they put into the war against drugs..there's more money for are goverment to work with..Also with the legalization of drugs, will be a boost in our economy..not only through the sales of them but legalized drugs would be a hell of alot cheaper even with the taxes, that gives people more money to spend towards other things, in turn boosting the economy...thats just my splurge...I could go on forever but I'll stop..let someone else chime in

yea i guess i didn't think about that...i was thinking that the government could make their own little marijuana facilities and sell it and make money for the government...and make only government pot legal...and only in certain places. i dunno...some place where people can go and buy weed from the government and smoke it there...

now that i think about it, it would be much harder to do...
