capable subs

The IA LIs, the 12s, not 15s, can hit over 150db if done right. Seeing the difference is SPL between the 187 and the LI, I'd guess that under the same circumstances, you could hit 160+ with DP 15s.

If the RE will play that loud, I dunno. That's the equivilent of a 12 guage shotgun blast.

What's the criteria for 'how loud' those woofers got? A single DD9512 has hit over 170db (Nate Munsun), does this mean DD's are the loudest subs? Not necessarily. He switched woofers out with a few others and acheived similar results. I dont see what citing extreme examples of what one woofer can/has done means anything. Install becomes the deciding factor in those extreme circumtances much more than the actual driver used.

Comparing a shotgun a subwoofer is apples and oranges.

I was wondering what happened to sonic fx. No one has mentioned them in a min.

QUestion: what happenes if u put an subwoofer in an enclosure that is greater than or equal to its .vas

it still acts like it is in an enclosure, just a really big one

i've heard you need the enclosure to be like 3 times the Vas for it to be "infinite baffle"

He wanted loud. The only way I could prove loud without letting someone listen to a system is with numbers. Yeah, it is apples and oranges, but I don't know of a different way to say it.

Ok, here are my options as of now..... People, tell me which u would choose and why..

1) stick with my original set up and wait for the DP's to be released again. Maybe in FEB.

2) Try out the Sonic FX subs. Specs are very close to the DPs. The Q series i believe.

3) Dual xxx 15s

4) dual Magnum d2 15s, since i loved the 12s so much

ha i loved my magnum 12s.. they were very very nice drivers. i changed because i wanted to try out a 15 in driver but while during that changing process, they were robbed. So thats when i bought the DP. I havent heard 2 of them but i installed the one i have in my friend truck and man is this a loud woofer. Havent heard it in my specific vehicle yet, but i cant wait to try it out. Anyways, those are the 2 drivers i have actually heard. But had lots of experience with the D2 12

Dual xxx 15's would put out more bass than your ears could listen to (literally), and with XBL^2 it will output less distortion than any other sub mentioned in this thread. If dual xxx's is an option (its not cheap), that's the winner.

so you think the dual xxx 15s will exceed in SPL wise vs all the other subs mentioned with 1200W rms to each sub? How much do xxx 15s go for? and whats the recommended volume for each driver?
