Can't turn the sub all the way up

I'm running a 15" RE sub, similar to the xxx or mt off of a jl 1000/1 wired in series. It's a dual 2 and no matter how much I mess with teh settings I cannot get the sub to play at full volume without shutting off.

If I turn the gains down low enough so that I can play everything at full volume without the sub amp shutting off, the sub isn't loud at all and isn't doing NEARLY what it's capable of. But when I turn the gains up, it'll shut off at any sort of high volume. now the speakers don't shut off at full, just the sub amp.

Everything has been set over and over and over with a multi meter exactly to JL's specs. I've tried it at 63.2 volts on low voltage input setting, high voltage input setting, and with the sub level on the HU at 0, -15, and +15. No matter what it shuts the amp off.

I've even blown 2 60 amp fuses when I pushed it too hard and it shut off as usual. So what's the problem here?

If you need any more info to help me out just ask and hopefully someone can help me work this out cuz I'm at a loss as of now lol:furious:

lots of dimming. I always thought that the 1000/1 was rated at 1.5-4ohms but was 1 ohm stable? I'll go rewire it real quick and let you know how it works out.

What could the dimming have to do with it though? not enough power? I'm running a yellow top but stock alternator and it's a 2001 toyota 4runner.

wait a second. parallel would run it at 1 ohm. series is 4 ohms. I have it wired correctly. right?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

can anyone at all help me here? I just can't get it to work, I need someone elses brain right now cuz i'm fresh out of ideas.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You answered it your self.
Um... if i knew the answer to my own question, I wouldn't be posting this thread smartass:eyebrow: anybody that could point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it.

they are both of seperate 60 amp fuses. the fuse to the 300 has never blown, the fuse for the 1000 has blown twice. they're just AGU fuses. i think i'm gonna get a new fused distro block soon so i can run some higher rated ANL fuses.

well if you are getting alot of dimming then your amp is shutting off cause of low voltage.

What is the fuse raiting on the 1000/1

Calling me a smart *** when you answer your own question just shows you do not want help.

Don't you have 8ga running to the 1000/1, or was that someone else? You are getting severe voltage drops because you have inadequate wiring and the resistance of the wiring is robbing the amp of power at high volume. The dimming is a symptom of the voltage drop. When the voltage drops the amp attempts to draw a lot more current to keep the power constant. This extra current surpasses the ability of the alt to power the system and all voltages drop, making the amp attempt to pull more current and so on. When the voltage at the amp drops below 10V the protection circuit in the amp shuts it off.

i think it is a 100 amp fuse, i'd have to check htough. sorry about the smart *** comment, i just dont like those kinda replies, i see em on forums all the time and i truly didn't know the solution to my problem and it was really frustrating at the time. anyways i do want help and yes it is me who has the 8 guage to the amp which i always thought was rediculous but thats how it came with the kit. i never htought it could cause a problem like voltage dropping but i will go swap it out with 4 guage and see how it does real quick. thanks and i'll post up letting you know if it works out or not.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
