Okay, so what is this thing used for? Is it to step up the voltage to get more watts from your system without using an alternator with a higher than stock voltage?

That thing looks like pure snake oil to me.

Supposedly it filters out AC ripple thus smoothening out the voltage line recieved by the amp as seen on an oscilloscope (not sure if you have a scope or not).

It also stores energy so that if the alt cant keep up with demand and the battery is drained you still have some stored power to run on.

A fancy cap basically.

The last Jacobs Accuvolt I heard of was for switching speaker impedances... or am I thinking of some other gimmick item?

It does exactly what it says it does, think of it as a DC-DC transformer, it'll pull, oh, 180A at 11v to give you 100A at 16v , assuming your half flat battery can supply that much current, but anyway...

thats the same idea as you see with the us amps optimizer.... they are cool if you get a chance to play with one try it. It will make you think allot more of your system... Just dont blow your speakers or subs...

They're who made the Optimizer for US Amps. Same guts as that in a US Amps heatsink.
