well what I do know about the box it the walls have to be 2" think maybe a little bigger, I'll take some meassurements tomorrow. what would the dimesnsions for a good be?

I meant how big of an alternator does he want to replace it with. And i've seen setups with a 2nd battery and a low amperage alt as well as the big 3 still maintain a decent voltage when playing music. Also if he ports the box he will get the desired results. But at the end it's w.e he wants.

yea its currently 55 amps (so I was told by oriellys and internet research) but would a 78 amp be big enough to power everything... or do I need bigger still?

The money spent to buy the alt and drop it in (if you cant do it yourself) you are better off getting a bigger alt. 78amp won't be much of a difference.

well the next is a 119 amp alt and I can install it no problem.

If you are strapped for cash you could do the big 3 on the vehicle, that should help your voltage pretty nicely.

119 amp alt with a decent battery should be more than enough for that power. Do the big 3 upgrade. Also turn off bass boost and set gains with dmm or o-scope.

Big 3 is in a sticky on the forum. Can't just cut a hole in current box, doesn't work that way.
