I dont have any ground wire laying around. I was wondering when im done with my install i have a crapload of power wire left. Can i cut it and use it as ground?
ouch, be nice to the noobs man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifNo it isn't. What is weird is that you actually think the color plays a part in what wire does.
Sometimes they need a shock to wake them from newb slumber. I prefer to use 1.21 JIGGAWATTS to accomplish that.ouch, be nice to the noobs man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

nice tips. thanksI'm sure if you asked this same question to a Best Buy rep, they'd tell you that if your power wire isn't red, and the ground wire isn't black, then you'll blow your amp. Wire is wire is wire so long as it is the proper gauge to carry your amperage needs from your amp. So long as you remember which is which (and you inform anyone who works on your car of course), then it's just fine. I would recommend putting some black electrical tape on the ends though just for reference (you could always cover the wire in black tech-flex and heat-shrink the ends... always adds a nice touch //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)
