Hey guys i am currently looking for a battery charge to charge my 2 batcap 2000's! they are lead acid batteries and i was wondering if anyone could give some advice or recommend a good battery charger to charge these batteries!

I have looked into the acutal batcap charge and those are about 350$ and ya i don't have that much to spend on a battery charger!

So i guess i am wondering what does everyone recommend or use to charge a lead acid battery?

thanks in advance

Kenneth

I use my power supplys. I have 3 a 20amp, 25amp and 55amp. They put out about 13.6 volts and have MANY uses. Thats what i would recommend.

I dont have fancy bat caps just regular car batteries

I got my 20amp one at a hobby store for 64.99 plus tax. its also great if you wanna listen to your stereo with your car off, i tend to use it there most.

No reason to spend a lot of money for a simple 12V charger. Here's the one I got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Vector-1087C-2-6-10-Amp-12V-Battery-Smart-Charger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem5d25d5eb58QQitemZ400066734936QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools

Grabbed it auction style for $20 shipped, and I've used it to charge 4 group 31 batteries at a time...works flawlessly. If something more beefy makes you feel better, there's a Vector 2/10/20 charger as well. My dad has it and because of how well it worked I got myself the little brother.

i bought a charger a couple of days a go from harbor freight locally, it was on sale $34.99.

it has 2/10/55 amp settings. and it works flawlessly

When you first put it on what voltage does it go too? I have a Schumacher speed charge with AGM mode and a Schumacher that doesnt have an agm mode. The charger with agm mode never goes over 14.7 volts and the other starts out at 15.2v. When charging agm batteries it is a good idea to keep it under 14.8 volts. AGMS can take some over charging if done right to increase performance but at the same time you are killing its lifespan.

wow thanks guys for all the input i am actually loooking at the kinetik one. but i was talking to another guy and i asked him how woudl the kinetik charge work on my batcap 2000's and he had this to say!

"The internals of the Xstatic Stereo Batteries is different than Kinetic, although Kinetic's charger does have a very nice feature for most lead acid batteries, the design and configuration of the Xstatic batteries is different (and patented) so that effect doesn't happen in the first place, mainly due to not having typical lead plates."

from what he said i am gathering that batcaps have some kind a special plates in them which would make a charger like the one by kinetik usless...ya i don't really know what he is talkign about. can someone put this in lame man words. i do relize it is pretty simple to understand but is this guy trying to say that the kinetik charger will not work or rather charge my batteries to full power?

thanks again you guys are a super help!

Kenneth

also one more question if i do get a batcap or kinetik charger will i have to disconnect my front battery or cna i just leave the 2 rear and one in the front all hooked up together?

i assume i have to unhook the front battery. to unhook the battery can i just pull off the positive terminal?

and thanks again!
