Building first BOX, for my hdc 12. Need help

So I am looking to upgrade my box now that I have a Mountaineer and can fit whatever i really want in it. I have an HDC3 12" powered by a BRZ 1200 at 1 ohm. I'm just looking for advice on size of the box, port size and tuning. This will be my first box built myself so any tips are well appreciated. I really like the look of having the sub facing up and the port back against the hatch of the suv, wondering if thats viable or if it would create complications. I currently just have sub and port facing the rear. I plan on using the RE box calculator since this is my first time and it seems to make it pretty simple. I need to know if the calculator adjusts for sub displacement or port displacement etc as well and if not how to account for that myself so i don't tune wrong or anything. all help is welcome and appreciated

18 sq inches and 32 tune 2.75 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif lil bigger and more port since u really arent overpowering the sub
I tried 18sq tuned at 30 with one I used last year. It did much better tuned a bit higher with less port for daily. It lost transition with 18. It still hit low but it didnt do it well. Sounded empty... That was a 15 though

30 is a lil low for me ..my new box for my hdc4s is 17sq @32=wind tunnel lol

So im not savvy enough to know what you mean to do when u say 16sqft per cube lol.. please explain a lil bit. On the RE box calculator does that basiccaly mean just make the square port length 16? and then just change the port size til it changes my tune to what i want? When i get the Tune hz i want on that calculator will it be different when i have hte sub in because of displacement or no.

Dont use that calculator. Download the Torres box calc

Port area and port length and width arent the same ...but essentially the longer wider taller the port is the greater the port area will be in square inches

This is my first box im gonna keep it simple and cheap til i kinda have some skill at it. and this torres box calculator is a ******* nightmare for me compared to the other one lmao
