building box that fills trunk top to bottom bad idea?

I finally just picked up a sa 15 could someone help me design a port for my box really quick? deciding on going smaller but Im getting different numbers on different port calculators... box outer dimensions 22 deep x 36 wide x 14 high with sub facing up and port along the whole bottom facing back/trunk tuning 31 or 32 herts. if this drops the cubic feet below 3.5 then maybe two small ports same idea but on the outer edges of the bottom/same place....

hope this makes sense.. thanks!

You usually want the subs and port firing to the rear with trunk cars. You can have a 12.5 x 4.25 slot port thats 34 in length. Gives you between 31-32hz tuning 15 sq inches of port area per cubic feet around 3.6 cubes. If you want to get more airspace, use aeroports

perfect, seriously thank you for all your help.. just to clarify are you saying a 34" wide port, thats 4.25 high and 12.5 deep? or 12.5 wide and 34 deep

and i agree all the subs i had back in the day were sub back port back but the deck lid/rear windsheild comes back so far in this thing i think it'll work out if not i'll make another one.

and yeah i've been debating aeroports thanks for that peice of info, if i change my mind and go that route any good brands to look for or just ebay stuff?

thanks again

Your height is 14, subtract 1.5 (3/4 wood thickness, top + bottom) from it, and you get the port height which is 12.5. Then the 4.5 is the width.

Port length is how long the port is. Here is an example, its the red line in this illustration.

For aeroports, go to home depot and get some cheap pvc pipes. If your design needs 8 inch or more buy some sonotube from home depot.

gotcha, so the port would be on one side instead of along the whole bottom of the box, i guess that should work too. thank you for the quick reply and the illustration

thats what i've been doing, i wanted to double check with someone on here because i used another one online and got completely different #'s but your #'s seem right and as long as i know torres is accurate i should be good,

thanks for your patience lol
