34 hertz will work great. but me id tune around 28-29 hertz. also it depends on what type of car/truck/ suv it is because they all like different tunings. large areas like vans or suvs, u can get away with higher tuning but in smaller cars u have to tune the box lower and u also will have (( box rise) the americanbass xfl is one of my faviort subs i cant tell you how many times ive workd with one and every single time they sounded good .

 
im also a fan of round ports, slot ports dont sit right with me in terms of design but yet again im just picky with my own things... but like i said dont worry about it because ur box is fine and ull have plenty of sound tickets along the way

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
