Build started

he said he was wearing goggles or safety glasses one not sure which but I've had stuff make it past the safety glasses I used to use I am I'm really bad about slacking on safety glasses they just agitate me so bad but this right here is a perfect example of why they should be worn because Boomin Tahoe is right only one set of eyes you get no extras or replacements

If anyone is wanting to try out sound deadening and doesn't want to pay the ridiculous price for dynamat I have used the self adhering rolled "speed flashing" that is used around house doors, windows, roof valleys, etc and it works really well for the price.. is it dynamat? Not exactly.. but is really close in makeup to car sound deadener and works really well... For $10 you can walk out of lowes with a roll of your own or if you want the even thicker stuff they sell it for $19.. I've used both the thicker inside door panels and the thinner on the underside of deck lids.

Lol... peel-n- seal... IDK how many videos and threads are dedicated to warning people against using that "stuff", or the mess it's created... lol

yeah when that stuff gets hot it can be messy i have some in trunk, don't stick great.. gp audio stfu mat is fantastic 5 sheets $100 and is about 5x thicker..

That is exactly why I said heavier on door panels and light weight on the deck because in the summer the heavy stuff will fall off your decklid unless you degloss the paint and add spray adhesive... I know this first hand because I saw it happen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

As far as the mess I haven't had any of that but if you need to get in your door panel to work on anything you will need channel locks to pull it off.. it is odorless, and basically a rubber bladder with adhesive on it so I don't know how it could get messy

Ah!.. I saw what product you were referring to when I looked up videos you mentioned.. that stuff is basically tar and foil meant to nail thru.. the next time you are at lowes.. go back and pick up a roll of this exact stuff http://low.es/1Hvz1oa and tell me it's not 100% self stick rubber sheeting on a roll.. I am sure there are many many different companies who make this stuff but this I have held in my hands and used.. there's nothing wrong with dynamat but if someone wants to deaden their $2000 Honda Civic they probably aren't going to want to spend $500 doing it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I've been in Az since 89... since around the mid-90's heavily into audio... it has been quite an ordeal fixing the peel-n-seal mess in more than a few installs I've encountered... and there are YouTube videos out there to avoid it even from people in cooler climates... idk, I suppose it could pass for a budget option for my least favorite nephew... hey, if it works for you then its fine... but the Op has 7K on 2 Hdc 12's... im sure that the peel-n-seal route would be something he'd regret eventually... personally I wouldn't deaden my plastic door panels with that stuff...

Could open my eye today, it's getting better but still blurred vision. (Over 3 weeks..fungal infections 3uck)

Took out rear seat and put the sound mat on the rear wall. Next is roof. (Not Peel n stick) but soundqubed brand.

When I bought the soundqubed stuff I also got the suv deadening pack......didn't see that big kit last time I looked on soundqubed webpage.

That gp sound mat does look good. If I run out on this build I think I'll try it!

So far 8 sheets on the doors and 3 sheets on the rear wall, maybe I have enough left to do top of cab and floor.
