Build Log, '04 Jeep, SA 15's, ZX2500.1, lots of pics

Great job on the box! Super clean install
Thanks man! always nice to hear some feedback on the install.

When you get the SA 12's instead of the type R's, let me know how they sound compared to the type R's.

Good woodworking skills. I'd rather not see ports so narrow. When and if you re-build try doing ports in some other configuration so you don't have such a narrow side.
I was wondering if there was any guildlines to designing the port dimensions. What would be the advantages of having a wider port? I am going to be building a new box for my gf in the next couple of days here and any advice on slot ports would be great! I was slightly worried about having port noise because it is such a skinny port, but I can't hear anything, especially while it's playing.

I recall seeing a desireable ratio somewhere as far as length to width for a slot port. I've had very narrow ports work OK with no port noise, but I feel there's more output and more accurate tuning the closer you get to circular.

The conventional wisdom is that at a point of narrowness much of the "area" isn't really active for you which will reduce effective port area which will lower output and tuning somewhat.

OF course I'm no fluid dynamics whiz so take that with a grain of salt, but I've generally been happier with wider ports (or round) myself and only done ports so narrow when space was a top constraint.

right on man, that makes sense for sure. I was pondering weather or not to use aeroports on this next box, but I think I may have to try them out now.

Build looks good man:)
Thanks man.

Just wish I knew someone, or somewhere, with a termlab so i could find out what I'm actually doing numbers wise. either way, the ish sounds great haha.

Got my box finished and SA12's installed yesterday, they sound alot better compared to the Type R's. I am super satisfied with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
