BUILD! 03 Chevy S10 Xtreme 4 18's

Well I've been doing some work lately and I finally got my seats pretty much installed.
This was a pain in the A$$ to do since racing seats aren't really made for S10's

there's previous pics of what I had to do to make the floor level, which took a little time, now its making the seat brackets so they're bolted down. I did find "Racing seat brackets" for the s10 and I even ordered them..but when I tried to put them in it was one of the most idiotic designs because there was no way to bolt the seat to them and they were both different also.... sooo

I went to my local metal shop and got a 1 1/4 by 1/4 rails and cut them into 17'' bars to fit on the sliders...

after doing that I cut 2 1/2'' pieces that would be the risers and 1 1/2'' pieces for the "L" that would hold it to the ground.

then I welded them up to the rail (its crummy welding because I'm using a gas-less $120 welder. )

spot fit them.. .

I didn't bolt them down just yet because I still have to give them a good grinding and prime and paint them so they look good.

After this I need to bolt it, then install the racing harnesses and it should be good to go with the seat portion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and when they're installed Ill be able to start working my center console design along with modifying some of the dash .

More to come ...

what type of metel and thickness are you using. i did mine with 1/8th inch flat bars with 1/8 inch bars for my seats and one has snapped got 2 years of use out of them so im happy.

well today im working on installing my security system, and its going alright ....kinda.... I managed to rip out the old security system (it came with the car when I bought it ) and now I'm trying to hook up the new one but it doesnt help that the directions **** and I can't find a couple wires...o well ill keep it updated

Looks like you need to turn up the heat on your welding, not much penetration from what is showing, boxing it in completely on those bolt points, would make it much stronger

Ive got a craftsman fluxcore welder to, 80amps is the most I can pull on a house 110v plug. My wire motor just broke on that though, just goes crazy fast no way to slow the wire speed down, and I lost the reciept //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yea I noticed I wasnt getting enough heat so I rewelded the joints with a gas welder this time and they're alot better

well .....today turned out good and bad... I managed to get the old POS system out and managed to partially hook up the new security system so the remote start works and the security camera works also....

The bad part... my gauges, locks and interior lights dont work.... sooo needless to say I'm going to be at it again tomorrow

all I can say right now is F uck my life.... right now is daily driven and I was able to install my security system to the point where I could still drive my car but it wasn't fully hooked up but now my brake lights wont work. I know it has to do something with a wire being hooked up but I cant find which one. I know the fuse isnt bad because when i turn my hazard lights the brake lights light up.....grrrr... so I broke down and bought a complete wiring diagram for the s10 ..with 64 pages of schematics and now I'm sifting through the pages trying to figure out what the purpose of a couple wires i see spliced from the previous system are...

I always have left alarms to the experts. Primarily because it was always a daily driver and I could not have issues like you are having now:(

Ehh even if I left it to the "experts", the would have ****ed it up too, the installation would have been $300+ and on top of that they wouldnt have positioned the sensors where I want them. Its not that bad of a fix, I'm just stressed with finals and all right now so I have to wait till the weekend.

aight so I've been a piece of shit lately when it comes to working on my car... just been in one of those lazy moods, that and school... I'll be able to start real work on after May 5th, (not cuz its Cinco de Mayo) but that's my last final exam so I'll be free of college for the summer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just ordered the boot for my walkthru so I'm probably going to start cutting next week

Good news.. I fixed my brake light problem, it was just a fuse that I overlooked.

AND I found a daily junker focus in awesome condition for $500, so I wont have to worry about having to drive this thing around everywhere
