Budget Sub Setup

My brother is looking to get a pair of subs and an amp for his 1998 Saturn SL1. His budget is $300-350. He's currently looking at getting these:

He's wondering if this would be a decent beginner setup or if you guys have any better suggestions. He said he wouldn't mind going with two 10's and a different amp if he could get better subs that way. After reading this forum for a while I was thinking maybe some 10" AA Assassins with a smaller amp but I don't really know. Any help would definately be appreciated. Thanks for the link. That combo looks like it might be a bit outside of his price range though.
