Box help

Hey guys I bought a 18 RE SX off a member here. After doing some measurements I came up with just around 5 cf of room to build. I can go bigger but would require me to do a in trunk build which I don't feel like doing. So my question is, does this sub require the 5.5-8.0 cf of room ? If it does then it's fine I can go a different route. Just wanted to see if people used this. And what size enclosure you used. I have a 2013 VW CC and the truck is big, but the opening is smaller which makes it hard to get any decent box in there. Thanks for any input.

I wouldn't run that sub in a small box. I'd sooner buy a smaller sub that would perform well in the available space.

That's not a problem. I know on RE website it says like 5.5 for compact and 8.0 for optimal output. That's why I am asking before wasting time & money. Thinking of doing a multiple setup with 8's instead.
