look at this plan and let me know what u think. these dimensions are the biggest i can do in a mustang. 38Wx12Hx12D port will be 2.5inches with port length at 21 which will tune to about 32hz. check out the port too. will the sound be ok? no whistling?

Actually looks pretty darn good but it is a bit large for a 10" (volume of the enclosure)...

And if youre worried about port noise make sure to always round-over the mouth of the port and also the end of the port...it is also a good idea to put a 45 degree angle insert into the corner/turn of the port too..

there are no parameters or recommended box sizes on their website so i figured 2cu^ft would be good... im also not really sure what to tune it too either!?! i listen to rap...

I'd aim for around 1.3 cubic feet tuned to 32Hz

if a box is too big: the dampening of the cone will be less and the sub can be more prone to bottoming out. it will also give a smoother sound, but power handling is decreased.

the opposite happens in a smaller box.

so i should go for 1.5cu^ft taking into account displacement tuned to 32hz? what would i hear differently if i tuned it to 30hz? 34hz?

I would go less than 1.5 cubes a bit...and tuned around 32Hz (you really cant go wrong tuning 31-33Hz IMO)

You could try aero ports.

download winisd and your'll see that a higher tuning will give you a peaky response curve. this is useful for spl but for music i wouldnt tune higher than 35 for daily, even thats pushing it imo.

so u are saying do 1.3cu^ft before displacement? and with tuning, the lower it is (to about 30) then the more spl and the higher (lower than 35) the more sql?

around 1.3 net should be suffice i would think. if anything just email mach5 about it, they have great costumer service.

the lower the tuning the flatter the response curve will be. well usually depending on car acoustics and cabin gain ect. the higher you tune, it tends to be a bit peaky but a bit louder, again depending. its easily shown using graphs but my winisd is on my the other computer.
