Honda + Subs = Rattles :(
JDBoogie contacted me asking for a design for his two 10" IDq V3's and requested that it be around 1.5 cubes per sub tuned to 28Hz per manufacturer spec so I figured I'd post what I came up with incase anyone else would like to use the plans.
Here's the actual dimensions of the box. Took a bit of fiddling around to get a rather small box tuned down to 28Hz and still stay in his car parameters
Construction:
Material - 3/4" MDF
Double Front Baffle (Flush Subwoofer Mount)
--External Dimensions--
Width: 40"
Height: 16"
Depth: 16"
Port Height: 14 1/2"
Port Width: 3 1/2"
Port Area: 50 3/4" squared
Volume (with port + braces subtracted): 3.1 cubic feet. The IDq 10's use up 0.05 cubes each so with two in there, it'll be 3.0 cubic feet on the nose.
Port Tuning: 27.6Hz with subs mounted, will be 28 exactly.
Anyways, here's a few pictures with it rendered in Sketchup including routered ends and port exit.
First picture is the base board with the sketch of the walls + port.
Next picture is with the walls and port constructed.
Next is a picture with the box completed and carpeting + wood texture added.
Finally is a picture of the completed box with translucent walls and some dimensions to get an idea for the cutsheet and construction of the box.
