Box design, '92 Pontiac Bonneville. Port through arm-rest?

So I looked through your thread, this picture looks to be about what I want to acheave.

It is the sketch made by 80INCHES. This looks to be about exactly what I want to build. Do you guys think it would sound good having that face forward, more towards the rear armrest hole instead of going through it? Would it still get loud? Keep in mine I am going to be playing strictly music, it is my daily driver. I just want a loud *** daily driver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

etznova, those max dimensions you mentioned in your thread... was that with or without the rear speakers? Because I am thinking I may be able to base my max demensions off yours, or hell, maybe even buidl almost the same box.

LMK.

that was with the rear speakers in place however in my bonnie there is a sheet metal brace that goes from each shock tower that i cut out and i also trimmed out some of the metal behind the rear seat back and slid the box in that way not through trunk not sure if the earlier bonnis had that or not

So you took all the sheetmetal from the rear of the seat?

I plan on keeping the car intact, so do you think it would get decently loud is I did a 6th order BP and had the port facing directly into the fold down armrest area?

oh yeah it will get loud even with the one i did the port was on the driverside not lined up with the arm rest all and i popped a 148.6 in the kick it was def. loud
Yea, but, you took out the sheet metal. I am not 100% certain, but I am quite sure my car still has the sheetmetal. I can't exactly check considering it is and the body shop right now... but... I dont want to remove any metal... unless you were refering to it being loud with the metal in place. If so, I hope it will be.

yes i took a sawzall to the car but i'm not sure if you car has the brace i cut out in mine or not. mine was a 97' and you could just build the box in the car and not have to cut any metal i cut behind the seat to be able to get the box in and out and i didn't want to build it in the car

the brace was across the top on the underside of the package tray and connected the rear shock towers together this pic already has them cut out

Alright my max dimentions are about

45" width

18" hieght

Depth doesn't matter much... would like to keep it around 20"

The measurements of the rear armrest opening is:

7.25" width

9.50" hieght.

Do you guys think I have enough room to work with here?

the dim. you have are more than enough for the bandpass i use as long as you can either get it to fit throught the trunk opening or you build it in the car but your port opening will not be centered int he arm rest it will be on the driverside which will still be fine. another thing you will need to do is seal off the trunk from the passenger compartment

Well I was aiming for a design with the ports centered... kinda like this(not my box):

yeah i know that box if you can fit it it, it will work very well but i tried it and had to scale it down abit and wasn't able to get the tuning right and didn't work out very well at all. so if you can fit it at the size he built it at then go for it

Nice man look's good so far congrads. keep us updated , keep up the good work 2 man. i've never went through the arm rest but in other rides i've done i have done it through the rear deck which sounded real good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

That's not my box... I plan to build one similar.

Do you guys know who would be able to design, or even build an enclosure like this for me, with the dimensions I gave, and around the driver I will be using?(15" Kicker L7).

LEt me know if there is anything that looks out of place, or any aspect of my design I should change.

Here is the box I want to model mine after(NOT MINE):
