box built with sheetrock and 2x2`s??

No, sheet rock will not work. Despite how heavy it is sheet rock is not sufficiently dense or rigid enough to build a box below resonace frequency. The box will just rattle like hell and low bass notes will travel right thru the walls and cancel out as if there was no box.

Buy a sheet of MDF. If you call around to several places for the best price you can probably get one for less than $20, or if you just don't have the skills you can order a prefab box that is made from MDF.

i have the sheetrock and 2x2`s already and was wondering if i could build a frame from 2x2`s and cover them with the sheetrock?? would be better than having to but MDF cause i already have the materials for this way. and i can seal it with sheetrock mud or bathroom caulk AS i have those as well.
thanks in advance.
Wow...
