box built with sheetrock and 2x2`s??

i have the sheetrock and 2x2`s already and was wondering if i could build a frame from 2x2`s and cover them with the sheetrock?? would be better than having to but MDF cause i already have the materials for this way. and i can seal it with sheetrock mud or bathroom caulk AS i have those as well.

Sheet rock flexes and cracks far too easy, it is porous and will sound like poo.

if you do fill it with water to check port tuning. I think there is a vid out for this procedure someone may have a link.

your box won't be up to fire code unless you use 5/8 sheetrock and steel studs.
