BOX BUILD! worklog [pics]

Haven't done any real work on the box lately. Mounted the chevy emblem on there permanently, did some sanding, and caulked the edges. Decided not to resin the inside of the box at the recommendation of some people here.
Just though I'd post some pics of my truck that this box is gonna call home for a while.

Those are some SpeedyWheels Victory Rims 22x9.5's, wrapped in som Toyo Proxes S/T 305/40R22 rubber. 3" Rear 1" front Drop on it. Soon to have a Snuglid SL Bedcover on it(If anyone has a link to buy these, let me know).

For some reason the truck came out orange in some of these pics... It's really red.

Eventually the truck with have the SS front bumper, a roll pan, and maybe some side skirts. And some dark tint on the windows

:)
ur white balance is off like somethin fierce //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

the orange looks good.. are you painting the box the same color with a nice high glossy finish?
maybe a fiberglass gelcoat?
you know, I really haven't decided how to finish the box yet.

I mean, it is gonna go in the bed under a bedcover where it won't be seen to often, so some nice, black carpet may just be fine.

I have little-to-no experience with painting boxes... particularily a very glossy finish. What is a fiberglass gelcoat? A layer of fiberglass around the entire box and then paint it?

Throw me some ideas/techniques/links :)

have you ever seen a boat before?

that is a fiberglass gelcoat, i tried it one time and it's not the easiest thing to do, it turned out decent... but not like a boat.

what you making that chevy symbol for if you dont want to show it off : ) come on man.

it looks like you're pretty good with your hands, you could probably get something a little better than carpet..

when are you planning on doing the blow-through?

gonna post up pics of that?

yea, I'll have pics of everything as it comes. The blowthrough will be the last step though. My deadline is November 27th for EVERYTHING to be done. That's the big local car show here where I can get metered and all of that.

I'm considering vinyl also.

vinyl looks good sometimes, and sometimes it looks horrible, you gotta be good with the stuff, or pay someone that is, maybe you could get it diamondplated, and powdercoat the diamondplate red?

it wouldn't effect your sound any as long as you covered the box with some closed cell foam/ sound deadener and then applied like a 'shell' if you will of diamondplate on the outside.

i think that'd look pretty nice

are you mounting the amps inside the vehicle?... you have a basic plan someplace that i missed?

nah, you didn't miss anything. gonna mount the amp's behind the seats (1 behind each seat) on some sort of minimalistic amp rack. Probably at an angle that closely matches the seats.

we'll see

HU: Clarion ProAudio DXZ855MP

subs: two 12" alpine type r 4 ohm subs

sub amp: orion 1200D

box: 4.5 ft^3 tuned to 33Hz

front/rear spks: Soundstream XStream 6.5 and 4x6

mid amp: legacy LA630 4 ch amp(got it free, should do fine)

Optima Yellowtop

160amp H.O. Alternator

Big 3

edit: that's all the budget will allow for now, and probably all I'll do as far as audio goes for a while.

In a year or so, in goes a monster of a 6.0L v8. 345 horsies stock :)

i am unfamiliar with soundstream equipment, but everything else there is pretty darn good imo.

my dad has the 2500hd with the beastly diesel engine, he put in the chip, exhaust, it ran a 16.2 at moroso. that diesel engine is a beast.

but i'm sure that 6.0 gasoline engine will be moving too. are you planning to bag or it put some hydraulics? or just leave it stock as far as that goes?
