the orbital i bought is working well sanding this box... im sure some will ask why did i cut the amp shelf section out, well when i was sanding i noticed it wasnt fully soaked thru in that area and into the wood so it was soft and starting to rise up, so i decided to cut it out, sand down the edges and then add some glass to the edges and sand again. i had a few bubbles but i was able to cut/sand them out and will lay another layer of glass down tomorrow on it then sand again. also i found a soft spot on each side of the box that i will need to address before adding and bondo/kitty hair to this thing. being sick really did waste my 3 day weekend for sure on this thing, not to mention the small issue i ran into with the amp shelf lol.

well started some body work today but it was cut short due to weather and i ran out of sand paper lol. i got one side pretty much smoothed out and was going to start laying some kitty hair mixture down on the other side when i found a soft spot that needs addressed so i started to glass that area of concern. tomorrow is another trip to the hardware store for some resin, brushes, and lots of sandpaper lol.

in the mean time i took a few pics of what i got done in the short period of time working on it this morning.

i hate living in florida..... seems like every time i want to work on this box florida snow happens like today. tomorrow suppose to be 80 so i will have a few hours of sunlight after work to take advantage of the warm weather. hoping to get it smoothed out and start on the sides but we shall see.

Looking good! I'd like to do a fiberglass box.... ......but its just too much work for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

you got that right. this box is taking me way to long but thats also because i have been lazy with it and critical at times of my work. not a good combo since it slows me down for sure. i am hoping to take care of a few trouble spots tomorrow then thursday or friday to finish a few areas with body work and then lay some primer down for a guide coat to see spots that need attention with spot filling and maybe next week it will have paint going down. fingers crossed.

Its a lot of work, but the end result should be worth it! I'm keeping an eye on this thread. Should be nice when its done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is the middle area for an amp? if so you should do a recessed area..would look sick...or you could do a lifted piece of plexi and float the amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yes the flat area in the middle is for the amp. the original plan was to recess the amp but i didnt feel like making the recessed box for it lol. i like the idea of plexiglass and the amp floating. i just never delt with plexi nor would i know how to attach it for the floating look.....

d*amn you pro-rabbit you got me thinking about the plexi now for sure....
