Bought new car, have entire old system-need advice

Hey everyone...first post here, hope I am clear.

I had a 1996 saturn SL2 that was totalled saturday. I tore the old stereo equipment out of it, and this is what I have from it:

H/U: Sony CDX-MP70

XM: Sony XT-XM1 (XM Rcvr module)

Front: 1 Pair Infinity Gold Reference Components 6.5" + Tweets + xovers

Rear: 1 Pair Polk EX-602a 6.5" (2 way)

Sub: 1 12" Kicker Comp VR in sealed MDF enclosure

Comp Amp: RF Punch 75HD (pretty old, but still ROCKS the Refs IMO) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sub Amp: Kicker KX150.2

Stinger dist block, 4ga power cabling, 8ga power cabling,

some stinger interconnects (RCAs)

NOW, my NEW vehicle, just purchased yesterday, is a 2001 Chrysler 300M limited.

It has the "premium audio" package, which from my understanding, includes ELEVEN Infinity Kappa speakers, but frankly, at the volume I am used to listening to my tunes, this just is NOT going to cut it.

SO, my question is this: How much of the above equipment can I continue to use in my new vehicle, and what will I need to replace, or purchase new in order to install something at least comparable to what I was listening on before?

I don't want to spend too much more if possible, but I'm not super handy with installation and all that, so I would like to try not to trash the new ride too badly in the process.

Any help or advice is appreciated! Sorry this is so long, and if you made it this far, THANKS!

Hope to hear from someone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

****..11 stock speakers? Depending on what sizes the factory locations are in the new ride, you should be able to pretty much throw everything in there. I would however, try and test as much of the old equipment as you can before you get it all installed (less headache if there's problems), being that the stuff was in an accident.

I actually drove it after the accident, and then decided it wasn't working out well, so I am 100% everything is working fine (it wasjust some wheel and subframe damage in the front)

As for using the comps and rear 6.5" :: do you think I need to replace all 11 factory spkrs, or will those comps + rears + sub suffice for what is a MUCH larger vehicle?

Thanks for the reply!

i sereosly doubt that it has kappas in it, isually wehn companys have premium systems like the jbl stuff that cam in my car, or the bose in some nissans isnt like the aftermarket stuff that company makes-- but a cheapend, scaled down version that is mass produced and thrown in the car, thats y its not cutting it for you, and you dont need 11 speaks, i would rather have 2 good subs and a set of nice comps for up fron than 11 speakers or weirdness

Oh really? I don't doubt that, I just read it while doing some research today. They def don't sound NEARLY as good as my refs did, but those were powered. Any idea where I can find out a DEFINITE on this?

Yeah I'm fine ripping out all that garbage, where would be the best locations for the speakers I have then? comps in front doors and 6.5" in back dash?

I may decide to spring for another sub down the line, but this on 12" has been plenty of thump for me. I keep the gain really low too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That's the kind of info i'm looking for though, thanks! and keep it coming //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

my stock system came with 10 speakers and it sucked
So did you replace all 10, or just pick and choose the best locations for a handful of choice speakers? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

if there is 11 speakers there is an amp in the car .Your better off putting your stuff in there and wire the whole thing your self.
i guarentee that. espically since its a LTD version.

your best bet is to get some 16ish guage wire, run a set to each door, install the xovers in the door (if possible) and install your comps in the doors stock space. tweets should be fairly close to the comps for good imaging.

then just throw the wiring along the door trim to the boot, and put the sub back there. take out the HU - get a dash replacement\harness\antenna adapter and just leave all the stock wires there, but disconnect\remove the wires in your wiring adapter that go to the stock speakers. this solves the problem of "removing" the 11 speakers. basically you wont have to even mess with them. just leve them be - cept for the front doors that is. leave all stock wiring intact though.

then you should be all set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

try it first with the rear speakers on. try it with them off. decide what you like more. maybe try and amp the rear speakers (if you can)

easy install IMO //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you're gonna keep all the 11 you don't replace, then you could probably run your old speakers off your speaker amp, and the remaining stock speakers off your HU, right?

OK I took it to an install shop to get a "professional eye"

The verdict:

Front: 3.5" + 6.5" components (infinity)

Rear: 6x9"

Apparently there is a factory amp installed, and if I wanted to have them install my system, they would have to charge me an extra amp installation fee to bypass the factory amp.
