Wiring harness question?

I have a nakamichi cd-35z headunit and i need a new wiring harness (thing that plugs in the back of the deck), but i emailed nakamichi and they told me they had no one in the U.S. to help me. a local shop told me he couldnt get it. I though maybe these were universal? or maybe somebody knows how I could get one? thanks for any help

Man, thats a tough one. You may have to go through Nak of Japan and try to get it. Or check eBay. But Sh*t dude, not a very common deck so no one in the US is gonna have it. I've got an MB-100 that has wiring harnesses still on it, if you send me a picture of the back of the deck.. I'll see if I got what you need.

i dont have a digi cam, so i wont be able to get a pic. man i thought all decks used universal wiring harnesses! shows how much i know! see the problem is, some of the wires are down to about 1-1.25 in long, is that too short too splice? and if i can still manage to spice them, is the best way to twist the wires together and then heat shrink tubing over them? the reason the wiring is hacked up is because this is the deck that came with the truck when i bought it used. i really like it, and I am hooking up an all new system in with this deck. the old owner had done a shitty install job by twisting the wires together and wrapping them up with electrical tape, and I just want to fix all of his mistakes. thanks for any help guys. ive called nakamichi directly, they never answer their phones.

solder the wires together, no heatshrink without solder. What you need is a wiring harness to interface the deck with your truck.. what truck do you have? Let me know that and then I can help you with a harness.

hmm not sure what u mean by interfacing it together with my truck...my truck is a 1981 c10 and there is not a lot for wires in it, it doesnt even have power windows or power door locks, or A/C for that matter. the harness just was connected to 4 speaker cables, the remote turn on, and the headunit power. so i am just trying to reconnect everything the right way...so you are saying i should solder it? thanks for the help man i really appreciate it. im new at this but im trying to learn as much as I can...

u think its ok even though the wires are only 1 inch long? also, the speaker channels were 2 green, 2 white, 2 purple, and 2 yellow i think. i noticed (after i disconnected everything) that one of the 2 colors had a stripe in it. I figured this would be negative and positive...but now i dont know which one is which...lol

my standard is striped = negative.

as long as you can solder/splice onto that 1 inch wire, you should be cool, but make sure the new wire you solder/splice onto it is long enough

if you have short wires open the top of the unit , try to id the power wires . power it up and find your speakers and remote wire. then solder and heatshrink.
bad idea, never start messing with the insides of your deck unless you where trained to mess with the insides of your deck. You can seriously fuck something up if your not careful.

Don't do it, you have enough wire to work with.

thanks for all the help guys i really appreciate it, ive been redoing EVERYTHING in the interior of my truck, and I am installing an all new system, and I just want to make sure I do everything right, so that it can be the first and last time.
