it does seem like it should get louder.

the amp has 2 sts of -- and ++. they are just to sets of connectors to the same channel. just lets you hook up more subs easier. so both sets are actually one inside the amp.

Set gains with HU at volume around 50-55/62

And set them the proper way (well, at least better than by ear for a novice) Unhook subs from amp and measure voltage

If high's are too loud/distorting at that level, gotta set the amp for those at the same level as you did the subs then

All the hifonics I've worked with seemed to be set high. I set one with an oscilloscope on a deck that put out around 5v on the sub preout, and still had to have it around 12o'clock on the gain to get rated (before clipping) outta the sucker.

I'd say they're fine, just set gains for highs/mids/subs CORRECTLY, get a ported box, and let 'em wang

Wish me luck guys ! the manager really seems pissed at the installers and is behind getting us what we want and making us satisfied because of the ammount of money we have spent there getting the install done, and putting the faith into their hands.

Bassman i wish you lived closer too bro ! it would be awsome to meet up with some members on thease boards especially some veterns like yourself to teach me the ropes, because after this experiance i am very eager and ready to learn.

Thanks to you all, lets hope that none of the voice coils recived damage and that this is all due to impropper wiring/wrong enclosure.

And yeah, that helps alot to know that most hifonics need to be set high, it sounds fine and does not sound distorted with the gain setup high, and like i said they are not overheating anymore.

Anyways, like i said wish me luck my meeting with futureshop is at 3pm tomarow !

any other ideas why it could be a little quieter than it should be? do you think dropping the big kinetik hc 2000 directly under the amp and removing the capactior will greatly improve the power behind the amplifier ? because i have a feeling it will... again another thing my installer was completely uneducated about, he told me that it would not make much a differance having the freakin 1 farad capacitor there or the kinetic hc2000 under the amplifier wired in unision with the kinetik 1800 i have upfront, urgh what a moron.

I think this could possibly be contributing to the low level volume, im willing to bet with that nice big beefy battery into the system the amplifier would put out alot more juice.

it would probably take a 1000 farad cap to = an hc 2000....lol

i think you are used to the artificially boosted sound of all the bass boost and bass on the h/u, thats why it needs the gain on the amp turned up so high now.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing about the cap lol. and no, it is alot quieter than 2600 rms should sound lol. ive heard some systems with less power be louder.

If all hinfonics amps need the gain to be up a little higher than most amplifiers, than where it is set now would be normal. I reduced the bass-boost to a quarter of a turn from 0.

And on the head-unit, i removed all the garbage bassboost, etc.

It sounds so much cleaner, but it is a little quiet. I expect with the propper box, (ported) thease things will really start to unleash the beast, And i could probably put a bit more gain into them/bassboost once they are reciving the propper cooling correct ?

Also if it helps at all, the way they had my amplifier/head unit setup was making the 1 farad capacitor drop below 11v sometimes, its not so bad now with the adjustments we have made to the H-U and amplifier, but it still drops pretty low i dont think the thing simply has a large enough stoorage capacity for when 2600rms Drops, this is why i think it sounds a little quieter than it should too. We will see once the 2nd battery goes in. I think i have heard this causes bad surges or unclean power to go to the amplifier am i correct ? sorry if this is a stupid question, but u only learn by asking.

Man this sucks BAD.. I have 2 SX 15's have had not one problem. you should really look into learning to install your own system, that way you only have your self to blame. But IMO you should really looking into maybe adding areos or building a new box my box for my 15 SX's is about 10 total Cubes 4 Cubes per subs 100 SQ inches of port.

no, i actually have epilepsy and prefer to wear fur because i shake easly in the cold, i have had 2 grand maul seizures and my nervous system is shot. I am prescribed divalproex acid and medicinal marijuana.

Anyways yeah the capacitor is going to be gone as soon as i can get it out of there, i think the problems have all been narrowed down now, and when the dust cap is replaced, the box is ported, and the new battery goes in it will be alot louder, And more stable in-terms of over-heating to easly.

we have no spare tire, it is all fibreglass and goes down pretty deep, the hole trunk is basicly a box. *** http://blip.tv/file/1866225 *** It is a large car, a 1997 crystler LHS i am not exactly sure of the dimensions of the box because of its design to form to the trunk.

Oh and, trust me. I fixed the shitty wiring job they did on the amplifier, and *****ed them out for it and it is another issue that will be dealt with today in our meeting, all the wire exposed, argh.
