Bought 2 RE audio 18 SX's....... and....

Just Rip that cap out asap and throw in that batt. what type of batt do you have up front is your Big 3 done?
I got a kinetik HC 1800, and in the back was going to go a kinetik hc 2000 that i have purchased, in my room waiting to be put in.

would this be hooked up with a battery isolator or no ? because again, my futureshop installer said that i would need a battery isolator to do this, but that is not what it says in the instruction manual, it just shows the inline fuses. no isolator.

i have a good H-O alt, and the 2 batterys so yes my electrical is beefed up i wasnt going to go up to 2600rms without upgrading that first, but the douche bag said i wouldnt need the 2nd battery and it would hardly make any differance. But in the instruction manual for kinetik it says to match the product #'s up with the amount of RMS you are running is a good rule of thumb, so combining my 1800 with my 2000 directly under the amp should give me more than enough battery power.

I do really think that the cap is holding the amplifier back, we will see when the battery is installed and the cap gone.

I didnt claim to be the youngest just more or less a joke hehe //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif its awsome they are getting alot more liberal with them now, and yeah too bad you guys dont get a portable license //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif we get the big peice of paper aswell as u can see.

i dont know if it was already said but turning the gain past 12 o'clock isnt always a bad thing. i think thats a pioneer 3900 hu? if so you have a 2.2v output in your rca. the bottom of that gain is 4 or 5v, top is .2v so the middle (or 12 o'clock) would be close to 2v. now the volume was only at 40/62 so maybe you only have 1v coming out of the hu. that means you would need to turn the gain up even more. you need to match the gain with the input voltage.

still, like others said, use a dmm to give you a better idea.

how can i tell what voltage is comming from the head unit ? and if 1 volt is only comming out how can i switch this to what would seem the propper 2v ?

here is the model type i took pic :

So having the gain close to 2v would be normal if that is what my head unit is at correct ? i am sorry... im a slow learner and i dont get things the first time because of my condition its hard for me to pick things up im doin my best here...

could the RCA cables from the deck be plugged in backwards or somthing on the amplifiers end ? just trying to think of EVERY possibility as to why it seems a little more quiet than it should sound, But maybe like you said it is just about matching the gain to the voltage input from the deck...

IF you have low preout voltage past 12 oclock isnt a bad thing. FYI
is there a way to change it so my deck puts out the .2v so i can use less gain and put less distortion into my subwoofers? am i starting to make sense yet ? haha //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i want to be able to use them as long as possible, listen to them fairly loud, they are strong durrable expensive subs advertised for brutality, but i want to set this up right. Now would it be better to have the gain past 12 oclock and leave it the way it is, or adjust (if possible) the head unit to output .2v

thanks guys for being so patient with me, i am going to learn through you guys and this place ! i am very exited and enthusiastic.

What batt do you have under the hood??? you could put the 1800 under the hood if it will fit and the 200 in the rear. Run a fused line from the front batt (which you already have) to the rear batt then another fused line from the rear batt to your amp. make sure you finde a good ground for that batt. you can ground the amp to the batt but i dont!

i run my front batt to my back batt ground amps to back batt ground back batt to the strut tower. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my battery under the hood is a kinetik hc1800.

the one in the trunk is going to be a hc2000 that i already own, i will have more than enough battery power.

Also what brand of deck would you recommend switching to bassman ? and also would this increase the power being driven to the amplifier/make it louder without gain turned up so high ?

or for those who dont want to read through the hole thing

"RCA Preouts 2 pair (Front/Rear or Front/Sub) 3 pair (Front, Rear, Sub/Non-Fading) Preout Voltage & Impedance 2.2V, 1k Ohm Hi-Volt (4V), 100 ohm General Features Volume Control Rotary Commander Rotary Commander Operation Mode Rotary Commander Rotary Commander Display Off Mode Internal Amp Off Mode Remote Control Card Card Wired Remote Input Operation Beep Tone Cellular Mute Detachable Face Security Face Case (Included)"

so with that said, the gain has to match the v on the h-u ? i am starting to slowly understand this.

anyways, i just got back from futurehsop. They are completely ready and willing to send our car to cartunes'n toys to have our box re-done from start to finish propperly, ported professionally with the right software, and equipment.

The general manager was very easy going and extremely aggitated by the lack of respect for our audio gear, or disgregard for blatent instructions in a manual from the factory.

They are calling around starting monday to the few differant shops that could handle this install, they are going to find the best one and then it is going to be done there for free on my end, and i also might be getting my kinetik HC2000 wired up for free as a compliment ontop of this for all of the hastle.

I will keep you guys posted, and from here on out i will video record it all !

i cant wait to get thease in a ported box, i am very glad that the meeting went well and that they are going to handle it propperly. hehe, they are going to have to pay out the *** for a ported box.

Could some of you experts with porting, especially people familiar with RE audio or atleast compitent enough to research into it please let me know, how to propperly port for thease subwoofers ? i heard it has to be vertical port, can the subwoofers be facing upwards and the ports go vertical ? or do the subwoofers also have to face out like a wall so to speak.

Please let me know, so i can tell futureshop how to do this propperly.

Thanks alot guys !
