blue sub box

I wouldn't. No need for resin. Just pull the carpet off, sand off any fuzz or glue left. THen seal it, prime it, and paint it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

the only real reason i'm thinking of using resin is for the experience. I have never done it before and have always wanted to and i thought this would be a nice safe first stab at it. Although i am not looking forward to all the sanding that would be needed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Sanding the resin isn't any fun..you generally are sanding bondo/kitty hair when you do things with glass...the resin more or less lays the main shape and provides the strength.

Painting MDF works just fine, sand her down and do a few coats //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you dont' have a box though, I wouldn't purchase a prefab in most cases. Get someone to build one for you and you won't have to worry about stripping carpet or anything.

EDIT: Noticed you live in OH. I build boxes, if you're interested let me know....shipping wouldn't be much from MI

Then try the resin on the inside of the enclosure. It will seal it up, and you get some practice mixing the resin and mekp. And don't have to worry about sanding it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not to get off topic or anything, but why do you have your box facing in like that... with it not sealed off from the trunk?
I can see how you think that. But the way it is, the place where the back seat would be is on an incline, like 80 degrees or something. The sub box is snuged in just as tight as it can be, sealing from the trunk. The top is just further in then the bottom, so it looks weird like that. But acually, it is sealed from the trunk.

OK so i think that i am going to try to glass the box. I have read several really helpful "how to's" and i think its doable for me. Few questions though, can i resin on top of the carpet thats on the box? How much resin do i need to use? I already have the strength i need from the box itself so just for show 2-3 layers? thanks for the help guys!

If you think that you can glass then I'm sure you can build your own box.

see these guys, the blue men make the blue boxes
